Scurge Hive sucks Long Dong
This game puts a lot of interesting ideas on the table, but the devs appear to be retarded and botched it all up.
I'm only on the early game, past the first boss, but I feel the need to write about it because it is so infuriatingly bad.
The first flaw is the directions system. You can aim and move in 8 directions, and you have to jump up platforms quite a bit. However, it is hard to tell precisely where your character is in the map relative to other objects and entities, which leads to a lot of failed jumps and missing the enemies when you shoot.
Speaking of the enemies: they are all atrocious. There are no cooldowns, no strategy, no behaviors you can learn from and adapt to. They either rush to rape you as soon as you enter a room or they spam projectiles at you. The worst part is they don't die. They will all respawn the next time you enter the room. Your progress doesn't matter in this game. It's no fun at all to fight these assholes and there is no satisfaction in killing them.
Another problem with this game is that interactable objects are not always obvious. The handlebars that you need to climb up certain sections often blend in with the background, so you feel like a retard when you finally notice they've been there all along. And you need to go back and forth between rooms to find keycards and do puzzles, some of which you can't redo if you fail. Unless you re-enter the room, in which case you'll be greeted by guess who? The fucking enemies.
I assume the devs had no one to playtest the game, because I cannot figure out who would find this terrible gameplay loop appealing.
Get mogged.
