(CNN)A stabbing at a vocational school complex in Kuopio, eastern Finland, has left at least one person dead and 10 injured, two seriously, according to police.
A Finnish police spokesman told CNN that a male suspect, who is one of the injured, is in custody after he used a bladed weapon during the "violent incident."
The suspect is a male citizen of Finland, the spokesman added.
Officers engaged their firearms after being called out to the incident, but would not comment on the possible motive for the attack.
Kuopio police received a call about the incident at around 12.30 p.m. local time (5.30 a.m. ET) at a shopping mall, which also houses a vocational school for students aged 16 years and over.

Sounds like coded for refugee. 10 injured by knife though is pretty crazy. All I imagine is this guy stabbing someone then running around swinging at as many people as he can.

I have been reliably informed by recent media reports totally unrelated to this that the only possible explanation for this is an Incel because Joker was released.

A true tragedy.

So it has nothing to do with the fact that the building says Hong Kong, and that today is the 70th Anniversary of the PRC?

Checked out some of the main Finnish news sites and what info is available right now.
A) The attacker is currently in intensive care because police shoot him.
B) He is 25 year old adult student of the school and is finnish. Although some of wording has been pretty wierd so might still be something like second generation immigrant.
C) One woman died, two got hurt seriously and others victims just have minor injuries.
D) There was also an arsony happening at same building and police have found firebomb/molotov coctail from attacker’s home.

Wait, so there was an arson happening in the same building? Was it at the same time as the stabbing or d'you think it was supposed to be, like, a diversion?

Who knows at this point. Also police have said that the attacker didn’t use a gun but he had a gun. According to witnesses before the police shoot him he was yelling really loudly and attacking police.

I'm surprised the ABC is covering this at 1.35 am in the morning. It has some additional details.

One person was killed and 10 were injured at a college in eastern Finland on Tuesday in a violent incident that a newspaper said began when a man attacked a teacher with a sword.

Key points:
  • Police said they opened fire during the incident but did not say if they shot the suspect
  • Two of the 10 injured people were in a serious condition, police said
  • Authorities have not speculated on a motive for the attack

Finnish newspaper Iltalehti quoted a witness as saying that a student had come to class with a large bag, taken out a sword and attacked a teacher.

Police said they had opened fire during the incident at a college, which is located inside a shopping centre in the town of Kuopio.

But they did not confirm that they shot the suspect.

One person, identified as a male Finnish citizen, was taken into custody. Police said he was among the injured.

Ville Hokkanen, spokesman at the Eastern Finland Police Department, told Reuters the man had used a bladed weapon in the attack and had carried a gun.

"One person died in the incident and 10 were injured, one of which was the suspect," Mr Hokkanen said.

"Two of these 10 were seriously injured."
He declined to say whether police knew the reason for the attack or whether man was a student at the college.

"The act of violence at Savo Vocational College in Kuopio is shocking and we utterly condemn it," Prime Minister Antti Rinne said on Twitter.

"I have had discussions with top police officers and the government is following the situation closely."
