Yeah it's easy to make fun of therapy, and it's hard to actually do the work and unlearn unhealthy patterns you've come to rely on as heuristics. It's like having tunnel vision, you're all wrapped up in your depression, the pain is overwhelming, etc. etc. and so oftentimes you try to glaze up a depressed person and they just blow you off, like an incel getting mad at his mom's advice.

I want to expand on this a little more. At different times, I have been the depressed person incapable of listening to reason, and at others I've been the panicked family member, terrified for the safety of someone I love. That's not smoke, you can find a shitload of postings to back up why this shit means something to me. I've seen both sides of this situation and I still think the net good is not to KYS, if only cause it forecloses on any possibility of your life getting better. Things aren't even breaking my way now and sometimes it feels super bleak, but I know that hurting yourself or KYS is a false economy so to speak.
