“People don’t walk into stores in Salt Lake City and steal things because they know that the police will arrest them, and the district attorney will charge them, and they will be found guilty and put in prison, so people don’t do it,” he said.

“You have to return to a set of norms and standards of conduct that are enforced and stop talking about it like there’s some special pixie dust that exists in San Francisco,” he added.

QFFT! I imagine it's only a matter of time before every business not owned by a big company starts having opinions like this.

So today on the local news.

They are happy that an IKEA opened with 10 security guards monitoring the place.

And hoping that its brings back SF.

Along with news the local lugenpresse is insisting that tourism is returning.

TFW a major city is pumped up for a fucking IKEA 😂

Sure SF, SURELY that IKEA will revitalize the city.

Lol 😆 I'm sure it's going to be the most shoplifted IKEA on Earth

Maybe they think the criminals will go in the IKEA, get lost and never be seen again. That would leave the city safer than it was.

Is San Francisco even the target audience for Ikea? I feel like half the city would refuse to assemble their own furniture and the other half simply cannot.

It's already sold out, so I guess I should give myself a ⏰
In the most San Francisco twist possible, this was council due to "community activists" throwing a tantrum.
They tried to have a positive tour that was still loaded with junkies:

San Francisco ‘doom loop’ canned, but even opposition group’s ‘positive walk’ can’t dodge open drug use, homeless (Archive)

These people really don't understand that everyone is moving their nice Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, and all these fancy stores and having a easier time opening up locations in Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Florida because they can see less in shrink, sell more product and have less theft.

San Francisco is dying because no one wants to pay 5 times the cost of living for weather that can be achieved with a central AC. And a fraction of the cost. No one wants to eat outside and see a homeless bum shit on the street or steal their overpriced food in a meth induced binge. While trying to enjoy a nice night out.

When you can go to Miami, Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Austin and have a nice night out and not have to be accosted by violent meth addicts in the street it's a change of pace.

It's long overdue, but now San Francisco is slamming...
Against a concrete wall at speed of 250 km/h.

Every time I hear about that commie central it manages to get worse, somehow.

Doom tour isn't even a doom tour. Its just walking in San Fransisco in a safety group with people big and scary enough to frighten the tweakers if they get rowdy.

TBF I was in a city that petitioned hard for their Ikea and it was a big event. Previously there were 2 or 3 stores that made a decent secondary income stream by reselling Ikea. Just run a semi to the nearest one that was like 4 hours away and deliver you order with a mark up.

The main thing that is pretty lol for me is its not even an Ikea, its a shitty "urban market". A limited selection Ikea.

If you want a cafeteria lunch and some good-enough furniture, its a pretty good store. I don't get the people who hate it or cream themselves over it.

There are services like TaskRabbit that will come assemble your Ikea shit for you.

You'd need to be an extremely soy-ed up to not even want or be able to build IKEA shit. It's basic bitch DIY but at least it's satisfying, especially when it's a big project and it all clicks together.

Never messed with Ikea stuff specifically but I put together a cabinet for my mom once, that felt pretty good. I also repaired a broken folding chair with a simple screw and lock nut. I felt like Repairmanmanmanman.
