Since I vaguely remember having been banned for one reason or another on his forums like 20 years ago, I hope Garry Newman slips on wet tiles in his curtainless European bathroom and breaks his neck and dies.

Someone made a website to easily decompile s&box games. It extracts source code from .cll files.

It was already done years ago.

S&box Discord server is sperging out about it. Multiple Facepunch staff members were discussing it and Garry responded that they'll start compiling to dll on the backend. Too much shit to screenshot.

Forgive me for being a non-technical retard but doesn't his own employee explicitly say that won't work in the same chat, LMAO

Even if they do that couldn't someone still just use stuff like IDA? and other decompilation tools can be developed in the future like the ones that exist for Unity

Also, love the way these guys talk to their now-paying customers like they're lower than dirt.

I haven't looked into it all that much, but it seems like the issue is the fact that you are receiving an exact copy of the source code to compile, rather than decompiled code that wouldn't be easily readable. Almost all game engines go through obfuscation during compile time to make the decompiled code a lot harder to look through, so stuff like unity asset ripper isn't as useful outside getting sprites and images.

Found this clip. Grown ass man crashes out in case opening simulator game.

LOUD AUDIO WARNING, TURN DOWN VOLUME

Genuine work of art, not only do we somehow have a role reversal of Gmod classics like the buried alive saga with a grown man crashing out at a kid but then the camera goes third person at the very end revealing it was filmed by a retard that actually paid for that cardboard crown with it all finally topped off with being recorded from a gamemode that got deleted for being openly botted to milk the playfund thing.

FSR3 upscaling
He goes off about how terrible temporal is, but the game still has art made with temporal in mind because he is retarded. They are forcing at minimum MSAA 2x, holdover from Half Life Alyx, but all the hair and semi-transparents are dithered and foliage is aliasing heavy, as if the artists were assuming that TAA would 'clean it up'. If they are forcing MSAA then they get, for free, at minimum two coverage samples to use alpha to coverage for transparency anti aliasing and semi-transparents like hair (which is what games used to use for hair cards, before becoming stringy goop and now finally strands which look good again). Final Fantasy 13 actually required at least MSAA 2x for the hair rendering to function correctly because it used this technique.

Maybe Garry should tell his artists this since they don't seem to be aware they aren't authoring for TAA.

Our steam reviews obviously aren't great. They're painful for us. They are showing us where we have made missteps in the release.

Around 35% of the reviews compare the game to Garry's Mod. They point out the differences between s&box and Garry's Mod, they wish it was more like Garry's Mod. I understand this, they wanted an iteration of Garry's Mod onto the Source Engine. They didn't want an engine and a platform. They wanted a Source 2 SDK, they didn't want a modern c# engine built on top of Source 2. I don't think we can win in that argument, it's going to be an expectation and preference thing. My only real hope is that eventually everyone will realise that this is a much better way to work for developers, and we'll end up with much better content because of it.

Around 27% of reviews think we're missing Workshop integration. They liked the way you used to subscribe to stuff out of game and then join the game and have all those mods. There is probably something in that, for certain types of mods, and we'll look into it. We have a system in our Sandbox Mode where you don't need to subscribe to anything. If you want a weapon or an NPC you click on it, and it downloads and spawns it. I guess this appears like we're shipping all this stuff with the game.. but we're not. Anyone can make these entities and publish them for anyone else to use.

Around 24% of reviews complained about AI Slop. I think I addressed this before. It's not our intention to encourage games created using AI. It's not our intention to encourage people making shit no effort games. But it's a UGC platform, there is always going to be dog shit. What we need to do is remove obvious trolls, discourage it and make sure it doesn't keep floating to the top. We are developers and this is our platform. Of course we don't want it filled with shit.

Around 20% of reviews complained about performance. This is a legit greivence, we have the data to back it. We're working on it constantly, and have made some big strides this week.

Around 12% of reviews complained about NFT's. I have no idea what this shit is about. Of course we don't have NFTs or blockchain stuff, and never will.

About half the people that reviewed negatively went on to play more. 6% of them played for over 10 hours. One French guy played for 280 hours after posting their negative review.

What I'm getting at is that we're listening and it's appreciated, so please keep the feedback coming, it's extremely useful to us.
"Sorry man you're only allowed to criticize the game if it's for one of the reasons I think is okay" - Garry in a nutshell

Dude, I used to lurk the Facepunch forums from time to time in the late-late 2000s-early 2010s, and I know I'm going to get shit for this but.....never before had I seen a more miserable bunch of mods/admins that would ban people over the tiniest thing they saw as a transgression. I remember a dude getting banned for like, a month over a typo. Another guy got shitcanned for a month because of an accidental double post. I can understand wanting to maintain some standard of quality on a forum but those fuckers had hair-trigger temperaments. Userbase had some funny as fuck & talented people but the mods/admins were insane.

I remember the FP forums being the place where a guy just casually got into the Source dev asset repo and dumped the whole thing to appease people in the HL2 beytah/HL3 thread, that event happening leaves me wondering why Valve even put up with Garry in general after that occured.

I don't think it's going to change very much if that's what you're expecting. Garry has his way of doing things and isn't willing to budge about most of it. The only thing he's kind of conceded on is the amount of AI stuff that's there. I think the censorship, over-moderation of innocuous criticism, and the "open source" code that is only partially open source are much worse. Of course, most normies outside of this site don't care about those issues, so I'm not expecting anything to realistically be done about them.

Most of the problems, by the way, aren't new. Garry was just forced to care a little more after the actual release of the game underperformed so badly. The thing they're making is not the thing their customers are telling them they want, and instead of fixing it his response is basically "well I know what you want better than you do."

Garry showed Claude analysis of his S&box game reviews in his Discord server and added the results to the new blogpost.

Update 26.05.13
AI thumbnail punishment, more discovery updates, FSR3 upscaling, a big physics update and more.

Notice that he says only performance is a legitimate grievance.

The false/misleading marketing saying it is a G-mod sequel/successor is not legit

The poor handling of how assets are downloaded, leading to insane bloat and redundancies, is not legit

Saying that there should be no microtransactions / NFT market in a PAYED product is not legit (and uh...I don't even know what you are talking about! We totally don't want a CS2 like Marketplace no way!).

Only performance where they can throw a Framegen on with no effort to fix (which is what he details above his bitching and downplaying of reviews) is legit.

Garry....why do you care about the negative reviews? I thought you said this was always a part of your brilliant plan? What is up with all the coping?

Oh this might explain all the coping..... (Keep in mind the 12k peak was when it was free beta build. Release day peak was 6,765.)

Instead of fixing gmod and preventing it from dying, Garry just made gmod but worse which ended up crashing faster and harder than the original. What a trainwreck, and completely deserved too.
