RW's claims on Anita are such that any editor who wanted to provoke chimp-outs could do so simply hammering her on the logic holes alone. Each one of the segments on that article have giant gaps that you could park Broseph's Tank in one of the damned things. In order to further the cause of enabling detractors of RW to hit the thing with the equivalent of artillery strikes, here's one example:
They're all paywalled. Every single one. The first article costs $6 to look at beyond the entry and the others are 50 a pop.
I.E. - There is no way, without paying money, to fact-check any of these studies (and yes, they're categorically wrong).
Anita's Studies are fundamentally flawed and have been categorically disproven too, but there's an even better and more hilarious reason that the sources that RW cites cannot be used:RationalWiki on Comparisons to Jack Thimpson said:No. Jack Thompson claimed that violent video games made the children that played them more violent and prone to school shootings, and pushed for legislation to ban them and to hold the developers responsible in murder cases.
Scientific studies have disproven his hypothesis. Anita Sarkeesian's point is that sexist depictions of women in popular media perpetuate sexist ideas in society. And there have been studies that support her assertion,[42][43][44][45] which she cites in the supplementary material to her videos.[46]
It's also important to note here, because her detractors constantly refuse to acknowledge this fact, that she does not want to ban video games. She wants the industry to stop relying on sexist tropes in their stories so video games no longer perpetuate sexism in society. She is not trying to restrict creative freedom, but influence people to change on their own accord. And the industry is eagerly listening to her as she has been invited to speak at various tech conferences and video game studios over the past 3 years.
Despite all this, people still froth at the mouth when she expresses her personal opinions on video games, particularly when it regards her personal distaste in violence as a mechanic. People leapt on her when she criticized Fallout 4 and the new DOOM at E3 2015,[47][48] prompting her collaborator Jonathan McIntosh to tell the mobs that they don't want to ban anything when they're critical of it[49] but only encountered her detractors doubling down on their original conclusions.[50] She's expressed similar opinions with other violent media, saying she didn't find Mad Max: Fury Road a feminist masterpiece[51] which others disagreed with,[52] but there's no MadMaxGate out to get her. Imagine that
