They were both under Hinamizawa Syndrome, though, so it was out of paranoia thinking Mion was gonna snitch on them and aided in playing out the tragedy. Rena in Sotsu wasn't as impulsive when she killed "Rina".

Despite how much I hate the Umineko anime, I still really wish we got an animated version of Chiru. Episodes 5 and 6 (and 7 and 8 to a lesser extent) have a bunch of amazing moments that would benefit from being animated.

Genji and Kinzo were butt-buddies during the war, thats why Ronove is so flamboyantly camp and kept hitting on Battler. I think Genji assumed that Kinzo would fuck anything regardless of their gender.

That's certainly a unique take on their relationship. Not supported by anything, but certainly unique.

I don't think Rena was L5 fully then, not like when it came to Keiichi. L3-L4 is the paranoia stage with some scratching, L5 is literally when the sufferer rips open their own throat.

tbh I think R07 only added the scratching at the throat before the final stage thing at EP6 of the VN cause neither Keiichi or Shion scratch themselves even as they're murdering their friends (Keiichi only starts scratching as he's about to kill himself in the phone booth and Shion doesn't do it at all), but now everyone with HS is doing it.

You can’t beat it. First time I watched the OG anime it legitimately made me feel uneasy and completely unsure of what to expect.

On the other side of the coin, it honestly took me years to appreciate Kai's ending song. Jury's still out on if the visuals really fit, but the song's pretty good.

Kai has the best songs and I am extremely greatful to Kai for introducing me to anNina. They also did Rei's ending which I think may be better than Taishou a. If you like the endings of Kai and Rei, I recommend their album natal. I also think Kai's opening is the best, though it doesn't exactly fit with the show.

This is going to be a hot take, but I actually like Gou and Sotsu's endings. They don't hold a candle to the ones Kai and Rei have, but they arent awful songs.

f you like the endings of Kai and Rei, I recommend their album natal.

The album was really chill, shocking and saddened they never did much else due to be super underground.

I also think Kai's opening is the best, though it doesn't exactly fit with the show.

It's more Rika's theme than the theme of Higurashi as a whole.

Gou had a good OP and EDs definitely, Sotsu's I don't know if the songs'll grow on me. Which I don't like to say because Ayane has otherwise produced good songs for the Higurashi franchise. My favorite of her's is "Nageki no Mori", after all, but "Irregular Entropy" is getting up there with repeated plays.

I never realized how much Ayane has contributed to Higurashi as a whole. The opening song that Miotsukushi-hen uses, Complex Image, is probably one of my favorites that she has made.
