I diiid point out that Monty just threw in whatever he thought was neat without working on them to make them fit together. You can even say the show carries baggage from early plot bits he hinted early on like Ozpin not being as nice as he seemed that they failed to make work.
It was less that Ozpin wasn't nice (quite the opposite he was portrayed as being very nice and accepting) it was mostly hinting that Ozpin knew more than we would expect. Glynda and Port made mention that Ozpin knew a lot of things. It was only starting in Volume 3 where Ozpin started getting any kind of shady.... which was exactly when Miles took over the series. Again I feel that Miles went out of his way to ignore what Monty set up to do his own thing. And honestly Ozpin didn't get actually shady really until like Volume 5 and at that point I think that was just Miles trying to appeal to the fandom who thought Ozpin was literally evil.

The problem with trying to fix RWBY is that it's an inherently flawed concept from the beginning, even in its very tone.

It's a show about color coded teens who fight a bunch of monsters who rarely do anything unless the plot requires them to and thus serve as no real threat, who go on super srs guys tirades and yet have a dog destroying a giant robot to incredibly corny lyrics. Either you accept the premise is incredibly fucking silly and run with it or you cut away a ton of shit to actually make it actually serious, you can't have it both ways.
Adding on to this, playing and witnessing a lot of video games in my days, and knowing that RWBY loves to be a video game in anime format, you're better off playing Children of Mana, Phantasy Star Universe/Portable offline, .hack, Alkahest, Nioh, Odin Sphere, shit any J Action RPG if you want a better series to enjoy for its story. Hell, Bayonetta and Devil May Cry if you want a story about fighting against realms closer to the creators of the universe and the devils of hell. All have better sound and visual direction too, by the way.

RWBY did seem promising at first, but it eventually became as shallow as an anime inspired webcomic over time, and with weak antagonists that barely flesh out the world.

The Trigun anime was way better than the manga. It got to the core of its themes with none of the chaff.

Anyway, adel aka, a man taking on RWBY has a video talking about that new databook which came out recently

He actually points out some neat details (like how Blake's bio makes it look like Bumblebee won't happen).

Imho Trigun suffer from having a
protagonist (Vash) who repeatedly refuse to do what was needed to be done to stop the antagonist from genociding the human population on that shit hole world. All because Vash is a shall not kill, shall not harm pacifist.

I...I don't even know what to expect anymore.

If anything, Trigun is a good example of why a protagonist who is Lawful Stupid about pacifism often does more harm than good. This is the main reason I hated Undertale, not for the Weeb Troonery, but because it treated anyone who'd rightfully defend themselves against an attacking opponent as Worse than Hitler.

Rurouni Kenshin pulled it off though.

Hope I Twittered right.

Might be old news, but I haven’t seen it posted here.

Well the guy isn't wrong, Newville's letter (Much as RT just laughed it off, or called him deluded) did some pretty damn good damage to them in terms of RWBY, and they still credit him? As for Haddock, his shittiness just came out after running the Animation Division as a concentration camp and jerking himself off to his shitty lukewarm SJW Mecha Animu was far worse, but oddly seems Cuck Cuck Luna isn't running his mouth about the "Real Gray Haddock" who is far more guilty of shit than Vic, but this is about RWBY.

As for Kathleen, it is very surprising she got credited at all because Miles seems determined to erase Glynda out of the main show and RWBY Chibi.

The databook confirmed that Salem wishes to rule Remnant through absorbing the Maidens' magic and seizing the Relics. This brings up a problem where it raises the question what stopped her from doing more from just sitting in her throne and depending on Cinder. She's unkillable by mortals, is a witch, commands Grimm...
I thought she wanted to use the relics to get the two gods to end the world. Isn't that they said in the one episode where they showed Salem's origins?

I'm pretty sure "powerful villain sits around in lair and relies on minions for everything" is a villain cliche that's been around since before everyone working on the show had been born. Also, everything about that Salem origin was pretty tacked on after people bitched about knowing nothing about her looking back. I remember someone saying what we got was lame and even some of the dumbest theories was better than the reality. Honestly, that's why I think 1. We won't see the elaboration of Summer Rose. Ever. and 2. Showcasing backstory on Team STRQ is just a "break the glass" moment for RWBY.

I'm sure Miles and Kerry just used the trope of the villain being in their lair without any thought. They keep trying to push RWBY as a serious story and they want to be taken seriously as writers yet they can't even do the most basic work. Just come up with some sort of explanation for why Salem isn't out wrecking everyone and taking over the world. But they made her literally immortal, ultra powerful, basically an eldrich being with knowledge spanning eons.... and she does nothing. You really don't need an explanation for a basic saturday morning cartoon where the plot is meaningless, but this approach is completely antithetical to their clear desire to push RWBY as a story focused show.

And they won't explain anything like team STRQ or Summer because they have nothing. Their book which is supposed to give information about stuff like that basically says "lol spoilers" on things people have been interested in for YEARS. They never did any work to expand on the backstories of any of these characters which is just an embarrassment. You have three members of team STRQ as active players in the show, and have the remaining member being the long lost parent of two of the protagonists (screw you Miles Summer is Yang's mom not Raven cause Raven didn't do dick to take care of Yang) who has been hinted at being important but only shrouded in mystery. The most we've learned about Summer is that she's a bland cardboard copy of Ruby. And really showing Summer at all in Volume 6 was an attempt at damage control much like how Neo coming back was. They don't care about Summer or how she's involved in the story they just used her to try to get people to like them again.
