Great ideas….unfortunately RT doesn’t think psychological domination and detective skills is as cool as flash and memes, so it seems you’ll be told to fuck off to the world of fanfiction.

That is an interesting (& imo, true) point. Powers affecting personality, or the semblance someone is born with, predestining the personality of each character. That makes personality fated, which takes choice away. It’s annoying to think about. The case of Mercury Black was mentioned above, too, & that makes everything worse. Or, just one more, of a score of incredibly huge plot holes no one has ever cared to fill in. How the fuck did Daddy Black steal Merc’s semblance, & why the fuck has one sentence never been given to even slightly explain things? His semblance (Dad Black, forgot his first name) being “stealing others semblances,” is cope for plot holes. Doesn’t have to be, but, as it was just left alone for years, it is. How convenient, just give it the old semblance treatment, & never explain. How does RWBY have so many plot holes? It’s the shows semblance, see, & was fated to never fill them. Low effort shit I’ve never noticed before.

When Monty was around he never put much thought into it, if he thought it might be cool throw it in. This lead to the series bad pacing, where the plot move a mile a minute and lead to much being unexplained for too long. Also the "world of remnant" segments were a copout to explain shit, which it failed to do, without putting it in the show itself. Now most of our knowledge has come not from the main series, but from every other piece of media from the games to the novels and beyond.

After Volume 4, RT's animation department blew up and began working on too much at once. With RWBY, RWBY chibi, RVB, Camp Camp, Nomad Of Nowhere, Genlock, and even helping out with Death Battle, they had way too much on their plate. When you have the same few people leading all of that, they get spread too thin and everything suffers. Miles even stood down because there was just too much. They also are known to avoid criticism from their fans.

As a Drakengard fan I'd beg to differ.

It wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't feature at times crucial information. Best example is Ironwood's semblance, which was only revealed in Amity Arena. A major character's super power should not be hidden away in a mobile game where people won't think to look. It'd be like if MHA hid Overhaul's quirk in Strongest Hero. Hell, the explanations for dust and the grimm, integral to understanding the setting, are hidden away in the world of remnant.

If you watched just the series, you'd be lost as to what anything actually means. It's like when Spoony complained about how ff13 never explained anything itself and you had to rely on the codex to understand anything. Only there is no easy to access codex. It's spread around different places. I mentioned Amity Arena but that shit is dead. Anything not archived is now lost to time.

Oof. I knew that explaining rules was a problem, but it sounds like RWBY didn’t even try to explain it in the show.

It can't really explain it with the way the show is written. It moves too fast for there to be any time to explain.

It took until season 8 to explain how ruby's power worked. Imagine if one piece took that long to explain how luffy's power worked.

The best part about said explanation is that it doesn't make sense when people look into every other scene Ruby used said power, which leads to the newest gigacope of "w-well Semblances can evoooolve!".

If Semblances can evolve, then apparently they just showed some small scenes of training that weren’t all that impressive and probably didn’t amount to much from what I’ve seen since the evolutions are…bigger displays of power from the same abilities and new equipment? I guess it’s evolution, but Rocky’s “Gonna Fly Now” or Mulan’s “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You” montage it isn’t.
