A game rarely mentioned, but one I played a lot as a kid was Crossfire for nes.

Oh my fucking Christ... The devs played the old shitty licensed games and actually made a good version of them!?!?! They even have the notorious 2nd level of the NES Terminator 2 where you have to shoot the truck to move ahead but that level was bullshit hard and didn't explain what to do before throwing you in.

I never heard of that until now. It looks like a solid game, almost like a good version of Contra Force.

Yes, it was kind of an alternative Contra but with its own flavour. One of the games I never got tired of replaying.

It's basically looks like a rip-off of wild guns. Great game on it's own and I can't think of anything that's tried to copy it's style other than the remake. So even if it's not very original game, i'm still interested.

They're just doing a memey memberberries reference to the licensed Terminator 2 games of the 90s. It's developed Bitmap Bureau, they know what's up, it's going to be better than licensed shovelware.

Wild Guns probably owed a bit to Blood Brothers...


...which copied Cabal. There are a few others. Neon Inferno is like Wild Guns and Contra at the same time: you've got guys on the same plane as you, plus the ones in the background.
