Another RTS in Beta, Battle Aces, bites the dust.

Former Blizzard employee David Kim was also on the development team, but it again shows another example of former Blizzard "talent" going elsewhere and failing. The game also appears to be another of those "that game existed?" type of games.

Definitely didn't know this existed, and apparently hardly anyone else did either I guess.
That's from 11 months ago with 31k views, and it just looks like a bunch of non-distinct stuff moving around with some larger but still generic looking units later on in the video, and no apparent base building mechanic. Looking at some of their other videos it really seems like they wanted to skip base building and resources entirely and just rely purely on micro management and APM.
This video has some commentary, but it looks bland as fuck with no interesting visuals, faction distinctions, almost as if they wanted to focus purely on the esport aspect of blizzard RTS games which is pretty terrible for the 90% or more of the playerbase that can't be bothered with that.

It manages to look more generic than the early Stormgate footage, of which Frost Giant Studios has at least updated a bit of that recently so it's not so boring

Requesting recommendations for American Civil War RTSes (and/or turn-based strats too I suppose).

I think it’s going to be very slim pickings for you but I believe that there was a Cossacks game (ancient ass and mindless semi-realistic AoE-like) that had playable Union and Confederacy factions.

Wars of Liberty for AoE3 (abandonware as far as I’m aware, and a bloated fuckfest) had an American faction with the gimmick of getting to choose at every age between Union and Confederacy and (because of its original focus on the War of the Triple Alliance) a roughly 1860s focus for every other Latin American civ. Some Latin American civs have access to Confederados as an “Immigrant” sub-civ.

In the sense not of AoE-likes but including Total War-likes, and besides mods, Ultimate General Civil War and Grand Tactician Civil War (the latter is an actual in depth war simulator at the grand strategic level).

Fire and Maneuver looks kind of trash and has turn based Civil War campaigns in a DLC and a Confederacy faction to join its Union faction.

Would somebody who plays Men of Ass2 and Gates of Hell like Red Dragon (and the 1st game)? (how is sp content etc...) also i seen some people in steam disc complain how after years of neglect devs came back banned like 30% of playerbase then fucked off how true is that ?

Bigger scale, less micro, some gameplay mechanics are simpler ( like penetration mechanics being a simple penetration - armor value ), small warning, most of the DLC factions are gay powercreep even after nerfs.
(how is sp content etc...)
Mediocre, AI is critically retarded, blatantly cheats but still can't do anything beyond throwing meat into meat grinder, single player scenarios are fine, but difficulty scaling is absolutely nonsensical, both of the "easy" campaigns are far worse than all others.

StormGate are pushing out the the first campaing out
i only saw the 1st mission. it looks better, story not as copy pasted anymore from warcraft 3 but still will end up as hero that betrays the humanity, its really obvious
humor sucks, but designs look better, still a bit overwatchy for my taste

Eugen has banned a good number of people from Wargame servers in the past year for hate speech. Kind of a slap in the face to see 235 players online and then you get a month ban for saying faggot.

I have come to realize just how autistic I was as a kid. You know how autists hate food variety and will do things like eat nothing but peas? I would play RTS games all the time and pretty much never deviate or experiment from my horribly suboptimal and shallow playstyle.

I've been playing a lot of Company of Heroes 2 lately, and that's something I played in college. But now it's like a whole different game and it keeps blowing my mind with different mechanics I would just completely ignore. Holy shit this is a different experience and much more rewarding if I build barbed wire and sandbags and mine fields. Holy shit artillery (the self-propelled and crewed kind) is actually very fun and effective to use.

I literally used to just spam infantry squads (especially snipers and mortars) and basic tanks.

I'm the opposite and love covering the map in autistically designed defensive structures.

? I do that. Maybe you misread me. My old play style was mindless spam. I'd set up guns, machine guns, etc., set them up in cover, but I did not use vehicles I didn't immediately recognize (WTF is an assault gun?!?!), special abilities much, using my engineers to do anything other than sit at the base with their thumbs up their ass, using tanks proactively (like to cap points when not under attack), or setting up defensive features like barbed wire you can build. Now that I've stopped being retarded I realized that was the meat and potatoes of the whole game.

As Germans I like building stunlock hell out of bunkers and anti-tank guns everywhere.

Carbot animations took a pity on stormgate and made a small animation to promote it
And holy fuck they do need it

I watched the playthrough of the campaign and it was amusing to say the least. The gameplay looks fine even fun at times, but the story and dialog is so painful.
I almost encorage you to watch someone's lets play just to see it.
They also cut every possible corner that they could. Talking heads are done with AI and its obvious. Some of the art for the missions briefings done with AI.
Its like this game was made by engineers and programs exclusively that had no sense or any passion in art and writing.

What a garbage animation. Says it wasn't sponsored, but that's bullshit.

1. He actually is a fan of this mediocre shit and felt like wasting his time making an animation for something no one is going to care about(it's actually one of his worst performing videos in the past couple of months)
2. He got some kickback like video game marketing tends to do. Paid vacation or some other bullshit and is expected to show his gratitude(that's how a lot of the game journo kickbacks work)
3. He knows someone at the studio and they begged him to do them a favor.

Also I looked up what you meant about the AI talking head shit... timestamped this video for an example, it's awful
You can see the teeth moving sideways and shit since they had whatever AI animation thing they used to do the lip sync clearly did a halfassed job. Sometimes the bottom teeth are just a weird uni-tooth, and the lip movements are so far laughably off that bad CG from 20 years ago looked better, and the talking heads keep snapping sideways or jumping vertically in strange ways that there would be no reason to animate like that.

No, I did get you, and I was trying to say I have the opposite problem you do of knowing how to be offensive, especially with infantry.
