I think the world-building in HP is serviceable for a children's series. Most of the Rowling-Deranged who attack it are looking for things to nitpick and are the same people who get upset that Brandon Sanderson (who's worldbuilding is the best part of his writing) is Mormon and thus a phobe-by-proxy.
