I was wondering what the hell "wemon" even meant, and lol, Christ, I want to say they're mixing together "women" and "demon."
My guess is that it’s a reference to this old ICP tweet- it gets circulated around a bit every International Women’s Day:

Is that "Eli" this person on the thumbnail?
This person looks like someone who thinks being Jewish in ww2 wasn't bad enough: "Hitler might have hated my people... but he personally hated me for being a troon and that makes me special!"

If Hitler wanted you dead for being a coomer, then i have something in common with Hitler.

They still think Harry Potter is "divisive" and "toxic" after all this time. Even after the complete and utter humiliation in the Hogwarts Legacy episode, and this was back then when they still had some momentum. They still haven't learned.

Soon the Universal theme park in the UK will have a Harry Potter section. Another gigantic middle finger to troons. The normies don't give a single fuck about it, and will continue to consoom HP stuff.

I was in a restaurant earlier, and a promo for this Food Network show that I’ve never heard of showed up on the TV. Obviously, it made me smile because I could just sense the massive amounts of troon seethe it surely set off.

It kind of boggles my mind how popular and marketable Harry Potter is to this day. I never really followed it. I read the first two books when I was really young, but it was a slog- it was more so me trying to understand/appreciate what so many of my peers were obsessed with, and struggling to do so. Ditto with the movies- I found them boring. Didn’t hate HP, I was just indifferent to it. But still…eighteen years after Deathly Hallows came out, and there’s still massive amounts of merch, entertainment, consumables, amusements, and media centered around it being generated. Novel examples of such fascinatingly continue to come out year after year. Good on JKR, I guess- she’s a real virtuoso when it comes to creating an enduring and beloved institution. I’ve never seen such success replicated elsewhere. Game of Thrones was the hottest thing for years, and it seemed like it was on a similar track, but it felt like it was completely forgotten once the show ended.

Are those the blokes who played the Weasley twins?

Yeah, yeah, you and like, 0.0001% of the planet will totally convince strangers to move on from one of the most recognizable IPs in all of modern history because famous British lady don't like the fact men in dresses are dictating how women should act and behave around a linebacker posing as an animu girl and them justifying it under their so-called trans labels.

I really, really want the Harry Potter tv show to be a success, but not for Rowling or Netflix's sake. I'm not a HP fanatic, but I watched all the film at the cinema and really quite love the third film (Azkaban).

I want it to be a success to further destabilise the tranny base. Hell, I don't like Netflix much, but whatever else you can say about their shows, they are high production value. I don't think Snape should be black, but I'm willing to take that loss in the culture wars to win another battle against trans madness.

I want a black Snape more than I want trans people to think they have widespread, genuine public support.

troon canon
Love that! Can we make that the collective term for 'retarded things troons believe'?

"Oestrogen makes you bad at maths!" Troon canon.
"Cisgender women can be autogynephiles too!" Troon canon.
"Hormone replacement therapy can literally change your chromosomes over time!" Troon canon.
"There's no difference between male and female skeletons!" Troon canon.
"J.K. Rowling is the most evil human being alive!" Troon canon.

Christ, has it really been eighteen years?

The only thing I can compare it to, thinking about it, is Star Wars. Not Star Wars as it is today, where it very much seems to be the dying, embarrassing, less and less culturally resonant brand that the trannies wish Harry Potter was, but the original Star Wars trilogy, pre-Disney, even pre-prequels.

Just these universally beloved films that despite not seeing a commercial release in decades, still routinely sold out in terms of merchandising and tie-in properties (comic books, video games, etc.) Films that defined a zeitgeist and united generations in terms of references, in-jokes, and pastiches in other media.

The only difference, perhaps, is that Star Wars tends to skew to more of a male demographic, whereas, in my experience, the Harry Potter fandom tends to skew more female.

I’ve never seen such success replicated elsewhere. Game of Thrones was the hottest thing for years, and it seemed like it was on a similar track, but it felt like it was completely forgotten once the show ended.

I think it was because Game Of Thrones VERY sharply declined in quality towards the end of the series, and audiences felt insulted for being so invested in it previously, given that the showrunners didn't show any similar investment.

I feel like, by contrast, the Harry Potter films, though you may have your favourites and least favourites in the series, maintained a consistent quality throughout.

But I haven't seen any of the Fantastic Beasts movies and I don't really care to. 🤫

GOT also has a lot of incest, sex, and rape. HP and (old) Star Wars never talked about that stuff, because rape isn't something (normal) people want to talk about with other nerds or explain to their kids.

HP and Star wars were both directed at children, GOT isn't.
A better comparison should be LoTL.
Funnily enough, the oldest mention of incest in child literature that I can think of is anctient fairytale of Donkeyskin, as it was about a princess doing everything to escape her father trying to marry her.

Yeah there's quite a bit of incest in fairy tales. Greek mythology as well. I had a book on Greek myths as a kid, it was tidied up for children but there was only so much that could be done...

Fairy tales didn't fuck around lol, but most of them were about scaring kids away from bad stuff or trying to instill some sort of virtue. I guess the point of that one is that bad touch is bad? We lose a lot in translation, and culturally too, with the really old ones. I love them though. You are right though, GOT wasn't marketed to kids. But kids are like the ultimate customer base because when they grow up they ideally buy that stuff for their kids too.

To go back to why HP has such staying power, I think a lot of it is nostalgia. Back in the day, when we weren't hyped for a book, there was a movie, and because there were so many it was kind of a constant hype train for like a decade. It really is a lot like LOTR, but to be there when something is brand new really instills loyalty in people. I think that happened to a lot of people in the 80's with Star Wars too, and even the prequels, it makes you feel like you're part of something forever because you saw it happen. You were there.

This is the danger of the social media bubble. You can convince yourself that everyone shares your views, but then you get out into the real world and it’s just not a thing. Most people I know IRL are only tangentially aware of the controversy if at all.

It treads a fine line between relatability and pure escapism. What kid wouldn’t want to be a wizard or witch? Even the schoolwork is cool! The problem that so many attempted usurpers have is that they think like adults. Like, “Oh, this magic system makes no sense, the wizard economy makes no sense!” No kid cares, because it’s fucking magic.

Ditto when you get some troon saying, “You should read this LGBTQIALOLBBQ-friendly series instead!” No, people read Potter because they want to get away from the real world. Kid-me would rather read something with dragons and spells than be lectured on pronouns for 300 pages.

I did an overanalysis of the Bible for shits and giggles on the helluva boss thread, I don't wanna do it for a random ass ancient fairytale as well, but its probably something about how a fetishistic obsession causes self-destruction.

Sadly, nobody but anime creators wants to replicate that anymore; nobody in the movie/tv spehere trying to sell you the next star wars or the next harry potter, rather they prefer to pack it and sell it back to you with a different package.
The Witcher had the chance to be the next Harry potter, and what happened to it was the most miserable of the outcomes.
Looking at the bigger picture, anime and videogames are the only ones that still try and succeed to create this kind of hype and success, with Hollow knight Silnsong and Deltarune, to a lesser extent, having managed to shut down or at least hinder various game selling platforms.
And funnily enough, Concord too tried to be the next big thing, like Star wars and Harry Potter before, but the thing came too late for its genre, had characters too ugly and lore too bland for the game (and franchise) to be anything but the biggest DoA flop of all times.

It’s a Warner Bros Discovery* property so it’s an HBO production, not Netflix. But HBO production quality is second to none.

*(Though with Warner up for sale, who knows? If Skydance/Paramount buys Warner as expected, it’ll be in the hands of David Ellison (son of Larry “Oracle” Ellison) who is decidedly not woke.)
