Can't reply to the right post for some reason, but I think that Europe is a lot less religious than elsewhere because it had catholicism vs protestantism, and had to just learn to get along or detach depending on what the order of the day was. The US was basically a protestant country from the off, the catholics are generally lower-class immigrant populations, there's a consistent religious throughline. England had that on steroids because it all happened within 20 years as part of Henry VIII's succession crisis. And Henry VIII's succession crisis is one of the earliest things we teach kids about because his wife-hunting is fairly easy to understand without knowing the broader politics + melodrama, so you're probably introduced to the idea that 'religion is something that's externally imposed on you' at like, 6, 8.

I think we have just the mentality that religion is something very private. I can talk just for my country, but here exhibiting your religious beliefs outside of celebrations and places of worship is frowned upon. In Italy you will never hear a politician say "God bless Italy" even though we have the Vatican in our garden, because it's considered deeply unrespectful to invoke God for such a trivial matter like politics. Basically, it makes you no better than those merchants Jesus whipped in the temple.

Aside from Christmas, pretty sure there's one or two Bible quotes in the books (Harry doesn't even recognize the one from New Testament on his parents' tombstone and has to be placated by Hermione - who is, hilariously, sometimes portrayed as Jewish in fanfiction - telling him where it's from). Also, in the last book, when they're taken to the Malfoy Manor, it's explained that Draco is there because of an Easter break. Funnily enough, I'm pretty sure there was no mention of Easter breaks in the previous books, which would mean it was established by the Death Eaters, who were contolling Hogwarts at the time. Also the fact Harry had a godfather would mean he was baptized, but all of it is pretty generic.
