Necroing but the guy finally uploaded some actual gameplay right here. You can donate some money, but I don't think anyone here actually would want to...

I have to say it's really addicting. Not sure why this took so many years to make, but I can dig it.

It looks completely different from what he started out with.

It looks like an entirely new game altogether.

It's not.

You see, the game is called "bob's game", as in the game a guy named Bob makes a puzzle game called bob's game, and the game you can download at the moment is that puzzle game. And my eyes just went cross-eyed.

i agree with pretty much everything you have all written about this guy so far, but. bob shows signs of brilliance. he may not have completed anything of substance, but what he has done so far shows real promise. surely the gamers among you can't deny that it's true, in your heart of hearts.

reading between the lines, one can assume:

his parents and/or early home life were a mess. no one set any boundaries for him, so he never learned any self-discipline. if bob could set realistic goals for himself and keep his ego in check, he would have been wildly successful by now.

he is ambivalent about his sexuality. given how fundamental this is to one's self-image, and his lack of grounding in other areas of his life, i could see this being a particularly destabilizing thing for him.

i can't see him getting past any of this, any time soon. but to me, he's a far more tragic figure than most of the individuals you guys talk about. chris-chan has no talent i can discern, or any positive characteristics at all, really. bob, though ... he is so, so close, and i bet he doesn't even know it.

in that video where he's traipsing around in the nintendo store in nyc, he's trailing a bunch of hot female groupies. tell me that would ever happen to any of the other targets you guys write about.

Nah, Bob dabbled in kiddie scripts and RPG maker, just like a ton of other people did in the late 90s/early 2000s. Then he totally failed to grasp how not-at-all unique his project was. Which is kinda dumb, to say the least. Like most creator wannabes, he got way too concerned with his "image" and his "marketing strategy", and put too little effort into actually making his fucking work and putting it out the door.

I agree that he needs mental help, though.

He hired those women though.

He hired those women though.

suppose you gave chris-chan a budget of, say, two grand to hire groupies to follow him around on some escapade. do you suppose he could find any takers of the same caliber that bob got?

even if bob did hire them, he looks the part. he and those groupie girls look like they belong together. there's another thing you have to give him: the dude knows how to dress.

so, obviously, i am not above pointing and laughing at special individuals one finds on the internet. i just created an account on this website, after all. i can't say that i feel great about it, though. when my life is going great, i have lesser urges to gawk at others. but, even when gawking, i don't see why the failure-people have to be demonized. they have good qualities and bad, like everybody else.

i suspect bob is living in a hell that you and i and most people would find unimaginable. i've known a couple of people who sprouted the type of delusions he's experiencing. i think that's a reaction to finding yourself extremely dissatisfied with reality. the right thing to do would be to seek guidance, find a mentor, figure out why it is that other people are succeeding at the things you are failing at. but no, bob doesn't have the context for that. so he makes it everybody else's fault.

that's tragic and gawk-worthy enough, isn't it? does he have to be evil too?

Who gives a shit? Bob paid them. And Chris bought himself some hooker poon once too, what does that prove? That women exist who will spend time with losers in exchange for money? Congratulations, we've known that since time began.

Sooo... the fact that Bob puts his pants on rightside-out makes up for the fact that he couldn't manage to release a mediocre-looking video game? Is that the point you're trying to make here? Remember how I said wannabees tend to focus way too much on their image and marketing, and their actual product suffers for it? You just proved my point.

Do you think Bob has sat down with a shrink, like he should have done years ago?

Did you even read the article that was posted in the ED? The only reason he got away with that was because he was working there at the time.
Encyclopedia Dramatica said:
On February 1st, 2009, Bob felt Nintendo was still ignoring him, so he put on his super cool leather outfit, spent hours in bed to get his hair right, and hired three asian people he randomly picked off the street in order to raid the Nintendo store in New York. Of course nothing really happened since the store was practically empty, so he had to do with just harrassing the staff, putting bunches of posters on the walls practically overlapping each other and generally act like a nuisance. Of course, the staff didn't do the logical thing and call security, since this weirdo actually worked at the store anyway.
Also, the scene where he drops the cards all over was filmed in his apartment:

So he went from having a job and an apartment with hardwood floors (not all that cheap in NY) to living in his car in the span of a few years? Over a video game that he made himself but can't market? And comes away from this failure believing he is Jesus? This makes him a truly mock-worthy lolcow in my book.
Looks to me like he's going Brad Watson.
I think "battling with some biased mods" on Wikipedia is on page three of the "How To Be Brad Watson Handbook".

lol nah Bob is a big dummy and probably never even really played a video game

Yes. Bob's Game is going to spend eternity gracing vaporware lists, alongside Joe Cracker's ROM maker and the Sonichu Playstation game. The dream will be kept alive just enough to continue to stroke Bob's ego, but anyone else will write it off as a decade-old tech demo.

If I didn't recognize the style, I'd almost think those boots were corrective footwear.
