Rihanna reportedly declined an offer to headline the Super Bowl LIII Halftime show in Atlanta, Georgia on February 3, 2019 because she disagrees with the NFL's handling of the national Anthem kneeling controversy.

The 30-year-old singer said no to the chance to take on of one of the most coveted gigs for music artists because she 'supports Colin Kaepernick' according to Us Weekly.

It's reported both the National Football League and the broadcasting network wanted the star – whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty – to take to the stage as their first pick.
'The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year's performer in Atlanta,' an insider told the celebrity publication. 'They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn't agree with the NFL's stance.'

But Rihanna's feud with the NFL and CBS stems back to 2014 when she lashed out at them on social media for pulling one of her songs from a show.

Run This Town, a track she features on with Jay Z and Kanye West, was cut from Thursday Night Football after a domestic violence video featuring footballer Ray Rice emerged.

Rihanna, whose own domestic violence problem with Chris Brown was played out in public in 2009, criticized the network for 'penalizing' her.

'CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, F**k you! Y'all are sad for penalizing me for this,' she tweeted at the time.

The likes of Chrissy Teigen and other fans with huge followings chimed in to show their support for her speaking out.

Meanwhile the wound is still fresh for Kaepernick, who admitted he has a crush on Rihanna in 2015, after his former team the San Francisco 49ers had to apologize on Friday for initially leaving the former quarterback out of a photo gallery showing their most celebrated moments against the Green Bay Packers.

Kaepernick was one of the players who kneeled in protest of social injustice during the Star Spangled Banner American national anthem in 2016.

He then opted out of his contract when he was told he wouldn't make the upcoming team and has not been recruited since.

The sportsman became the controversial face of Nike's 'Just Do It' campaign which says 'Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything'.

He also received an honorary award from Harvard this month for his influence on black history and culture.

'I feel like it's not only my responsibility, but all our responsibilities as people that are in positions of privilege, in positions of power, to continue to fight,' he told the audience in Cambridge Massachusetts.

Instead it's rumored Maroon 5 will top the Super Bowl bill with their collaborator Cardi B possibly featuring during the concert midway through the American football spectacular.

The rapper may be a newcomer on the scene but she has risen to popularity quickly and may be the next best music star to help the concert appeal to a wider audience.

'She is definitely being considered, but it's obviously way too early to say for sure,' one source said. Another added Cardi, 26, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, would have a bigger role in the show than simply performing her popular tune with Adam Levine's band.

'Pepsi, the NFL and Cardi are all interested in her performing more than just her Girls Like You verse,' the insider added.
TL;DR: YAAAAAAAS QUEEN

Get woke go broke. I am an old fag I know Rihanna and what ever she's normie tunes and nor shocking. That's bigger than an emmy. Let her nuke her career for a skinny ass jew who needs a shirt and pop music.

Now wait for racism complaints...

I watch the show drunk with a smile for lame pop music making ppl happy not for some mozart shit. She could have done that for nearly 100 million people but chose to ignore it... fine what ever I'll have a wonderful time with loved ones.

Anyway, it must be to sate the wives.

It has to be. The NFL obviously wants as many viewers as possible, and they surely want as many viewers as possible during the Super Bowl. So they make watching fucking ads an annual tradition (brilliant marketing achievement), and they give women (and men!) who aren't interested in the actual game something to look forward to.

Be honest: did you make this post drunk?

I don't fault for wanting most views and here's the thing. Look NFL isn't my fav, if you said Bass dance and sing I'd do it. I want to be part of something that big because A it's huge B it's making people happy. She's a dumb ass bitch who will be forgotten about like 80s pop stars. Pop on sing your songs who we forget make us happy for 20 mins and be done for millions.

Why does the most testosterone-laden sport's biggest game always have the soyest halftime shows?

Because money. Always, always always money.

The Superbowl will never have another hard rock band on their halftime show unless by some miracle hard rock comes back into vogue. They want to attract people to tune in, and they play it safe and sign on the most radio-friendly and non-committal acts to perform. They don't want to rock the boat intentionally, albeit in this day and age anyone and everything offends some group some where.

Maroon 5 is "perfect" for a halftime show because they've essentially bled out any creativity by their second album and are the essentially corporate rock band. Only band I can think of that is even more musically beige is fucking Train, but I don't think Train would get as many tweets about their performance.

More OT, Rhianna is still relevant? I thought society traded her BDSM ass for more "girl power" bullshit like Rita Ora, Cardi B, and Brynn Elliott.

I don't give a shit one way or the other about what people do during the anthem. What really pisses me off about the guy is that he refuses to vote, and NOBODY FREAKING CARES ABOUT IT.

Seriously, he's stated it numerous times. WTF?
So who the fuck wants the dumbass to vote anyway?

This thing about demanding that everyone vote is silly. I think it might be better if only people who knew the issues could vote. That's not practical, but if a total idiot declines to vote, that's awesome. Buy the man a drink.

The overwhelming majority of my posts are made when I’m trying to find the bottom of a bottle. Especially if I’m between projects at work and have fuck all to do. The only good thing about this faggoty-ass rating system is that I can easily find which posts pissed off which people when I sober up.

Are you OK, dude.

I actually respect Rihanna, at least she's putting her beliefs over money.

Also lol Maroon 5 and Cardi B

Is there literally any popular music that isn't gay as shit or some black guy grabbing his dick.

Anyway, it must be to sate the wives.

Remember when we saw Janet Jackson's titty live on national television? I signed up with the local Klan the next day. You have to think of the children.

Well, it was about time for Rihanna to have her turn. After all, you can only play halftime at the superbowl once you're no longer relevant.
Two words: audience widening.

Imagine if the Super Bowl did not have the commercials. Substantially less people would not watch it, because the normal person doesn't want to watch a whole thing of football. The NFL needs to appeal to as many people as they can, they're a brand, it's their mission. So, what do they do? They include just enough content not related to football that doesn't necessarily appeal to football fans (or at least the average football fan)

TL;DR: NFL includes soy products alongside the chicken breast and beef, so there's more people who come to the buffet. More people equals more money.

More money, lol, yeah like from those types who crusade against a category of entertainment they'll never be a consumer of, let alone a non-profit participant in?

>has enough money to turn down the NFL halftime show.

stunning and brave.

it would have been smarter to do the show and then do some dumb political stunt like kneel during the performance or after it. would have been more celebrated too. this is just laziness.
I think the NFL makes you do something safe and nonpolitical for your halftime show. They probably wouldn't pay for breach of contract for something like that
