He genuinely just needs a secretary/assistant or something, essentially someone with a nicer sounding title than "that guy that stops Stallman from saying/typing autistic things that will just embarrass us all".That would be awesome.
It's absolutely clear that RMS is on the spectrum. He is no doubt highly functioning, but the problem he faces is that he has the strain of autism that gives him unshakable confidence and a very specialized type of narcissism coupled with absolutely zero social awareness. This was a workable combination in the 80s and 90s but a really dangerous thing now.
Perhaps some kind of gentlemen's agreement can be reached with the larger open source community where RMS can keep his board seat and is allowed to do things like comment on sex with underage girls and horses as long as he chops his penis off. I feel like that would be a win for everyone.
And Linux, and Mac...Yes, very cross-platform: It runs on Windows AND Windows for ARM.

I'm sure there's someone in the community that is kind hearted enough to take on the job, it's not like his behaviour has ever really been much of a secret. It'll probably never happen, but he would benefit from a friendly handler.A secretary working for him wouldn't last more than a minute when they show up, boot up their computer, and immediately ask if they can get an MS Office key covered as part of the job.
Cue Free Software rant and immediate resignation from the secretary.
Sounds completely on brand.So... I have a fun second hand RMS story. I don't know how true it is, and over the years I have likely forgotten some of the details as it was originally relayed to me -- so take with a grain of salt -- but based on what I know it seems to add up.
So allegedly when a friend/co-worker of mine was in college, he and his buddies were pretty deep into the whole F/OSS movement. He was involved in his local FSF chapter or whatever and they got RMS to come in to speak. Part of the agreement was that RMS had a whole list of demands. It was kind of like those rock star demands about having M&Ms in the dressing room but just way more autistic. One of the demands was that you had to put him up somewhere that wasn't a hotel and transport him around. Somehow this guy ended up agreeing to let rms stay at his place overnight and being his handler while he was there. For the most part, it seemed to be par for the course and pretty uneventful as far as having a weird old hippy dude in your house goes. At some point in the wee hours night though, rms apparently barged into his room and shook the guy awake. He demanded to get on the internet so he could check his e-mail. He flat-out refused to connect to the wi-fi because he suspected it used non-free software. Instead he insisted upon using a direct hard wired ethernet connection. The only one of those in the house happened to be in the guy’s room. He didn’t really have a long ethernet cable which reached into the other room – since that’s what the fucking wi-fi was for. He had to wake up, unplug his router, and let rms use the direct connection. As the story goes, RMS ended up just sitting on the corner of the guy’s bed for a couple of hours responding to e-mails.

His rider has a whole paragraph about how he hopes someone will shack him up with a parrot. Not a badly kept parrot of course. He wants lovemaking, not a prostitute.I hope he got to play with a parrot
Do you have a link to his rider? His rider has a whole paragraph about how he hopes someone will shack him up with a parrot. Not a badly kept parrot of course. He wants lovemaking, not a prostitute.
You obviously never tried running a .net application under Linux. And Linux, and Mac...
It's in the OP at the very end.Do you have a link to his rider?
That's not entirely true. I believe Radarr is running fully on dotnet core nowadays, that's cross-platform. The software I write at work (and in my free time) also runs on Linux. You obviously never tried running a .net application under Linux.
Seriously, it's easier running a classic Win32 program under a non-Windows platform than fucking .net.
They rely on Windows libraries that are NOT cross-platform - any .net application that does more than print out "hello word" to the console will NOT run under Linux.
If you want a .net application to be actually cross-platform you need to target mono with GTK# etc. instead of using the Microsoft environment. Almost no software does this.
Everything to do with web applications and websites is fully cross-platform as of .net core 2.something. UI isn't but who is making desktop apps anymore (for better or worse, I'll refrain from sperging out about that)You obviously never tried running a .net application under Linux.

A huge amount of .net software are desktop GUIs. Every piece of .net software I ever used was a desktop GUI.Are you thinking of the bundled GUI frameworks such as winforms and wpf? In that case you're right, but I'm not sure how relevant it is when most modern development isn't based on desktop GUIs.

Doesn't seem outdated at all. There's no current .net cross-platform UI and MAUI does not actually have Linux support: Their Linux "support" consists of: Please someone add it for free for us because we won't.This is NOT true for the modern dotnet core. Dotnet core is not the same thing as the old 4.x framework. It's decoupled from Windows and meant to be cross platform. Core came out in like 2016 but it didn't get a lot of momentum until probably 2018 - 2019. It's actually
In terms of desktop UI support has been kind of meh but there is a new multi-platform UI framework which is slated to be part of dotnet6.
dotnet/maui: .NET MAUI is the .NET Multi-platform App UI, a framework for building native device applications spanning mobile, tablet, and desktop. (github.com)
Yeah. I mean, it kind of makes sense that they wouldn't directly invest in a Linux UI out of the gate due to a small user base.Doesn't seem outdated at all. This man is the gadfly Socrates prophesied we'd needRMS is a modern day Diogenes. He is right about almost everything. Stay mad proprietary trannies
I wish he would, but he dumped his blog site for a redirect to odysee.I'm honestly not gonna listen to a 37-minute recording that should have been an article
