I'm assuming it's legit. The only real education he's ever mentioned has been University of Phoenix, which is pretty much pay to pass, but on his LinkedIn doesn't even list that. Just a computer course he took when he was 16 at what seems to be a community college. I think what's damning about his resume is the longest lasting job he's held has been 10 months, outside of his freelancing... which he is clearly failing at.

Like @Ol'_Slag said, he rudely turned down a really (by Arkansas standards) good paying job offer. There are lots of jobs he's probably qualified for in Little Rock, but he's too snotty and full of himself to even entertain the idea of working for someone. I know he loves being the hapless victim, but living in a camper in Searcy (a little rat shit hick town in the middle of nowhere) cruising Craigslist for menial jobs and begging on Facebook being preferable to being a salaryman is really pathetic.

Good stuff, my favourite type of lolcow. I feel bad laughing at those who really can't help themselves but this guy who could easily be much better off is a different kettle of fish entirely.

edit: that being said (sorry if offtopic) what would $12/hr actually get you in Arkansas? One person said earlier he could live well on it, somebody else gave some other metric I didn't understand. So I guess I mean, if he had taken that job what could he have got? A car? Rented house plus luxuries? Just about bought something?

imagine being a father, born and raised in the heart land of america where men were men and work was work
and your fat son and his fat wife explain to you that unless you just give him your trailer they have to beg online instead of work,
and when you say 'back in my day we worked for what we needed' he storms off to his room and slams the door like a child

An angle that has not been really talked about is possible drug abuse. Its possible that he cant pass a simple drug screening. With all his "chronic pain" and being blackballed by various medical facilities, it wouldnt surprise me if he is getting his meds off the street and would pop on a UA.

At the end of the day, he seems like a downright shitty husband. I mean, I don't know how serious his wife's illnesses are (based on the doctor shopping thing, they seem like a ruse but w/e), but most decent guys wouldn't wanna take a chance of their chronically ill wife becoming homeless because they're too proud to take a job that's "beneath" them. If you love someone enough to marry them, the thought of them starving and cold out on the street should scare you into taking any job you can get. I'm pretty surprised nobody has told him to put in a damn McDonalds application already.

I'm on disability, so I get slightly over full time minimum wage (about $900 a month). I have my own apartment and my own car, and no debt. I have to budget and save for expensive things, but I'm independent and comfortable. Pretax, Richard would be making $1920 a month. So even with his anchor of a wife, he could live pretty well off. He could easily rent a house or a decent apartment, and replace his shitty car.

Kind of funny he complains about this like this considering...

Him posting that meme is ridiculous and frankly offensive because it doesn't really even apply to him, personally. 40 hours a week is barely enough to pay rent and utilities? Well, yeah, I guess, because no one who was ever a success in life ever worked just 40 a week...the idea that successful people didn't work their asses off in the past is stupid and dumb, just like Dick here.

The difference is that 40 a week used to cut it back in the day, and nowadays 40 a week won't cut it. That's it, that's the difference. The bare minimum doesn't work anymore, and he's mad that it doesn't.

I don't take issue with the meme itself, it's kind of situational and sensationalist but it does raise a point that for a certain subsection of America (those 45 million people) it's real hard to get ahead in life for various reasons, most of which can be solved by taking an honest look at your situation and choosing the path that leads out of the woods, even if it sucks in the short term.

Lots and lots of people have moved to areas where opportunities exist and holy shit, they thrive??!!? Starting up small businesses that succeed because they give a damn about them. Shocking concept, I know. Powerlevel and I don't care, one of my good friends started a restaurant after he got out of the Army, and he built it into a nice little thing with three locations in nearby towns because he gave a shit and worked waaaaay more than 40 a week on it. He's from inner city California and he moved far away from everything he'd ever known and loved because he knew he couldn't really get ahead there. That's courage, man.

Basically, following your dreams only works if you fucking have any, I guess. If your idea of the American Dream is to sit around and do nothing unless it meets your very specific criteria for "acceptable work", then don't be surprised if people laugh at and harass you.

Edit because this post wasn't long enough lol: I just realized my salient point, which is that the bare minimum would work in places where it was still enough, like bumfuck Arkansas.

If he worked 40 hours a week at minumum wage and she worked part time at 15 hours a week they would clear a thousand a month easy, which seems to be plenty for his geographic area.

So he could have had that 40hr/week job with his missus staying at home if he had had even a shred of common sense/work ethic instead of a debilitating false sense of superiority.

After checking what the Arkansas minimum wage was: he's an idiot for not taking that $12/hour job. Especially considering he has a 'certificate from university of Phoenix' I doubt he has any student debt. And if his wife received any SSDI there are people who work the maximum hours to the minute to still have a pay check and benefits. Where I am it's around 15 hours even.

I don't think Richard has student debt, but Amanda does (she went to ITT Tech. I have no idea why they like for profit colleges). Richard has a ton of debt, though. He's declared bankruptcy at least once, and he's almost had his shitty car repoed multiple times over the last few years for non-payment. He's said that he requires a job to pay him $20 an hour, because after his wages are garnished, he's "barely make minimum wage". Which I think is just another bullshit excuse he uses to not work.

It takes alot to have your wages garnished. Does he owe child support? Or does he actually have student loans?

Theres the thing: the type of person who thinks that they're 'too good' for certain jobs usually are big narcissists. I mean, of course you should aspire to better jobs and offers, always. But if you aren't lucky lately, you get what you can! This dude is so proud to accept what he sees as a 'failure'.
He only loves himself.

Not sure about the student loans, honestly. He's never bitched about them, so I'm inclined to think he doesn't have any. As far as a kid, nope. I'm honestly not sure how much debt he's in, but it's either considerable or he's seriously mishandled it. I'm about 99% sure he doesn't report any of his freelance income, and he just keeps what little money he has on his PayPal account. The only time he moved money from his PayPal account to his bank account that I can remember, they instantly took $500 and he flipped his shit.

Spamming polite pleas hasn't worked (he hasn't gotten a GFM donation in 5 days) so he's resorting to blaming his dad for being a Trump supporter who's kicking him out. Complaining because the man says grace before he eats is pretty fucking pathetic.

Ah yes, Richard, I bet your dad doesn't want you in his house because you're a 'Communist' not because you're a useless manchild.
And lol at him complaining about that his father doesn't cook... Richard, you doesn't even WORK, you dummy!

I'm sure he's telling us the whole story, from both perspectives, and isn't leaving out any key facts or changing or manipulating anything at all.:roll::roll:
