The geniuses over on /CO/mblr are discussing the lawsuit: http://boards.4chan.org/co/thread/103369819
These people are a special kind of retarded. They keep explaining how this dumbass broke the law, then also saying how theres no case.

EDIT: Every time I see these people in their echo chambers I end up more and more disgusted with their willful ignorance. I will be there to take screencaps when Waid get's wrecked in court.

He's just this guy, you know?

He doesn't personally set policy. His shitty behavior is not, by itself, a pattern of conduct by major industry participants like Disney.

Without a lot more, you don't have anything that makes it worth the FTC's time. That doesn't mean that information won't come out that might make collusive behavior by industry insiders look more likely to be a corporate practice, but that hasn't happened yet, just a few things that make you go hmm.
That's a thing I'm looking forward to. Everyone coming out to praise Waid for "standing up to the Nazis" doesn't seem to understand that they're undermining the idea that Waid isn't influential enough to get other people's contracts pulled and making it easier to prove collusion as a common practice if someone wants to pursue that.

/co/'s evolution is odd from what I've heard and some of those posters might actually be comic pros who are known to visit. The Tl; DR of it is it started to become more like tumblr due to the fanbase surrounding some early 2010s cartoons and the success of the MCU overshadowing the comics, GG already making people polarized and the announcements of the nuMarvel characters also helped. Now it exists in a state of "/co/-Movies and Politics" instead of cartoons/comics when a decade ago they'd be stereotypical nerds arguing over who's the hottest X-Men girl or other :autism: things.

Haven't been there in years so no idea if they improved or not.

If they were smart they wouldn't be social justice warriors

The recent social media spergouts by Marvel C Suite Executives specifically targeting Mr. Meyer however might add some interest. Not a lot, but certainly more than an obviously mentally ill man intimidating competitors.

So I know Wade and his buddies think (incorrectly) they can use Discovery to get "ComixGater Communications". But doesn't Ya Boi have a good argument to catch alot of Wade's communications to help prove his case further?
I wonder how they'd feel knowing their "ComicsPro Email List" is about to meet the light of day???

Edit: I clicked the /co/ link... How do you anonymously virtue signal???

The most obvious example is Quesada. That certainly raised an eyebrow. There are, I believe, very good reasons Meyer's counsel chose not to go running off into the underbrush chasing stuff like that, though, as much as I'd personally like to see it.

That's what's great about this case. To win, Waid has to convince a judge he's full of shit.

At the same time, all of his social justice friends who are yelling about punching nazis are harming his case, but if he publicly denounces them then they will turn on him.

He also can't drag in the Mouse and it's entirely possible his own lawyer is more concerned about the Mouse than about him.

Waid has some worries in his future.

Why would you pay a lawyer 750+ dollary doos an hour if he doesn't even have your best interests at heart? People's choice in counsel always baffles me

I'm just being cynical. I'm sure Waid has a completely ethical lawyer who would never value future business from Disney over his current client's interests. Because that would be extremely unethical. I would never accuse someone of being such a bastard.

Wouldnt that play into the damages phase more so that 1st phase? What do you think Meyers lawyer is going to ask for during discovery?

Would Zaid really risk his reputation doing that? A conflict of interest like that seems like it would stand out

I wouldn't either, but I still think it's decently likely that Disney is indemnifying Waid to keep their ass out of the fire. It'd at least be ethically allowed in my jurisdiction so long as Waid gave informed consent, and I don't know of that being a minority position.

The only way we'd ever know though was if Waid looses suspiciously badly and then doesn't want to talk about it after the fact / doesn't bitch that much.

I seriously doubt they're outright indemnifying Waid. That gets a little closer to paying him specifically to do what he did than they'd like. Still, I do think there are good things in Zaid's future if he manages to make this thing go away. That's what a fixer does.

Meyer isn't being completely radio-silent. From his review of Champions #25, he considers Kwanza Osajyefo (one of Comicsgate's most ardent detractors) being hired by Mark Waid to work at Humanoids Inc to be a notable blessing. Waid recently joined Humanoids himself as the Director of Creative Development.

Osajyefo was a digital editor at both Marvel and DC Comics, ran a series of crowdfunding campaigns for his comic book series "BLACK" and has his own lolcow entry.

And still hasn't delivered on his BLACK KS. He delivered the Remaster, but still silent on the original:

What a thieving racial stereotype. I hope he enjoyed the crack he bought with all that stolen money.
