I thought Australia was an incredibly deadly land, a lab experiment in what happens when everything can kill you.
The abbos survive just fine despite being messed up from huffing petrol and drinking frog urine. It's just white Australians that seem to be in danger. That says something.

I suspect the issue is the carrying capacity of their environment. It doesn't take a large population of herbivores to eat sparse vegetation until the land is as bald as an onion.

Super autistic theory here.... what are the chances of Zaid basically being a “distraction” online to sperg & bait the CG crowd in order to maybe get some pull-quotes or evidence.... only to drop out/ “get fired” when the actual trial begins? Assuming his name isn’t on any of the paperwork yet beyond a PHV, and he hasn’t done anything in court yet, could Waid’s lawyers basically say “your honor, we fired that other clown so you can’t really hold his antics against us or our client”?

I’m probably assigning more intelligence or strategy than is really reasonable tho. More than likely a LOLcow client just hired a LOLcow lawyer because those types find each other somehow.
Honestly from everything that I’ve seen/read on Zaid so far, it sounds like the simpler explanation is that Zaid is merely an opportunistic fucker who’s business strategy relies on enabling delusional rich fucks into thinking they have an air tight case only to go “Oh gee I don’t see how this outcome could’ve possibly occurred” before hoofing it with all the cash he made off the legal fees from drawing out these hopeless cases.

I don’t think it even really matters to Zaid if he actually believes anything that he’s been spewing, so long as his client gets a kick out of seeing his Big Shot Superlawyer “stick it” to all those dang dirty twitter trolls.

He sucks at it, though. If you want to be a smartass on social media as a lawyer, while getting paid big bucks, try actually knowing something about the case. You don't see Marc Randazza misspelling people's fucking names and not knowing who the parties are.

That seems to be the most likely case here. Zaid is just parroting whatever Waid is telling him so he'll think he's got a chance to win this and keep Zaid on retainer even though it's the other lawyer who is doing all the work. By the time Waid realizes that this lawsuit is about him cockblocking Meyer's contract and not because of mean words on the internet, Zaid will have already cashed Mark's check and booked a weekend in Vegas with hookers and blow.

Personally I can't wait to find out how Waid will manage to torpedo his case even further.
Maybe it'll come out that he's secretly the proprietor of a BBQ joint in San Antonio called "Mark 'Tex' Waid's Lone Star Cattle Ranch".

"I'll caution you right now that if you keep believing everything negative you've heard about me these last few weeks, you're going to feel mighty silly once everything's come out."

What could come out that would invalidate all of the King Baby stories we've heard? What could invalidate having the po-po called on you because you're wrecking up a comic shop you freakin' co-own? What could you possibly have up your sleeve, Mark, except for more legally-irrelevant whataboutism? Please, show us why you're a saint and don't deserve these mean words on the internet. Make us feel mighty silly. We're waiting patiently.

How would you bet?

This douchebag WANTS to focus on the libel/defamation claims because everyone knows that is the weaker claim of the two, and god forbid you can't call people nazis on the internet. God this trial can't come fast enough.

We wouldn't even be seeing a lawsuit at all if this was just about Mark Waid acting like the entitled baby he is and calling everyone he doesn't like a Nazi.

Libel and Defamation are only something to concern a court if there is actual provable damage caused by it. Getting called a cuck, a nazi, or a racist on the internet by random people you don't know is not something a court will bother with. Now, if someone called your boss and told him you were a nazi and your boss subsequently fired you, then you have a case. In this case the defamation is not the primary focus. Its the fact that Waid defamed Meyer as part of the interference with his contract with Antarctic. It shows a level of malice that makes him reachable for punitive damages and not just the direct damage caused by forcing Meyer to self publish. The big difference between civil and criminal court is there are no set guidelines in civil for what happens to a defendant who loses. The goal of civil court is to reset the state of affairs as much as possible to the way things were before the incident occurred. Going beyond that to punish the defendant requires the plaintiff to show that the defendant had an evil mind when he went about causing the harm. Its why in your bog standard traffic accident case you will usually end up with just medical bills and property damage paid for. Unless of course the guy who caused the accident was committing a crime (like driving drunk) that caused the accident.

The level of ego is absolutely shocking. Imagine thinking that allowing other people to speak to you is a free service you're providing to them out of the goodness of your heart because you're just such a generous guy.

Put me down for $100 on the side that has the fat, balding man-baby and Jamal Igle, Esq. I'm feeling lucky!
