Three games. The last THREE Star Fox games have been some form of remake of 64, which was itself a retelling of the original game’s story. Modern Nintendo is a fucking travesty.
Come buy a Switch 2, we have:
  • Bad Mario Kart
  • Bad ports of old games, full price
  • Star Fox 64, again
  • New controllers with the same problems as the old ones and no new features (Sorry, no cross-compatibility)
  • No OLED options yet because we can make our customers double-dip in a few years
  • Some kind of Pokemon-themed Animal Crossing thing
  • The opportunity to buy fancy new MicroSD cards (your old ones won't work)
  • Virtual Console, except now it's a yearly subscription. Make sure to buy the more expensive tier so you can play twenty-year old games as opposed to just thirty-year old games
  • Some of your old games are enhanced except oh whoopsies that'll be another ten buckeroos buddy

I love Gauntlet Legends but it's one of those games that the later Gauntlet Legacy I played more. Still a great time on the n64.
The series is a bit of an odd mess. On paper Dark Legacy has all the content of Legends but it has some bugs that can cause crashes or invisible inventory, and really the core levels in Legends are better anyway. So I keep going back to Legends on N64 in spite of Dark Legacy.

I played both GameCube and Xbox and remember one of the ports had issues. I think it's one of those games that the earlier ports have a better legacy. I played the Langrisser II on the Sega Genesis and the later port on the SNES with extra features and I prefer the Genesis in a way since the music is more design for the Genesis sound chip.

Speaking of which, I also ordered a few interesting titles that I've heard good things about.
- Mario Kart 64
- Star Fox 64
- GoldenEye 007
- Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth (JP version, as it was cheaper)
Prepare to have your mind blown as you experience true 3D gaming for the first time... Doom and Virtua Fighter didn't prepare you for this

The Dreamcast version of Gauntlet Legenda has four levels and some character classes from Dark Legacy included in it.

The levels are usually run on the reverse of the path you take through them in Dark Legacy, so the game is unique among the home ports of Legends and worth checking out.

And yes, the N64 I ordered has a region-free cartridge tray to allow both US and JP titles to be played.
I made one of those with a pair of pliers. Just stuck them down the cartridge slot and crushed/broke off the two plastic pieces so that JP games could be inserted. Same thing can be done with a JP console to allow it to play US games. Sadly it doesn't work on PAL consoles as far as I am aware.

It works, as in you can physically put a US or JPN cart in, but the NTSC/PAL incompatibility is still there, so it doesn't accomplish anything.

It's so weird, worth playing once but not something I'd go back to.

That's what I meant when I said it doesn't work, being able to play the game is the important aspect. With the right tools I can insert an N64 cartridge into anything that is larger than the cartridge itself but it is meaningless if the game can't be played.

Has anyone here heard about this canceled N64 title? I didn't even know about this until I stumbled upon this video. It looks really fun and it sucks that it never came out.

Does the PAL N64 have anything worth playing? Usually with the consoles Europe gets one or two localized titles of note that America didn't. They got Doshin the Giant, that Tingle DS game, a handful of NES titles like Mr. Gimmick, Terranigma...

I changed my comment to reflect things more accurately.

I love being milked like the goyim I am! Thank you goytendo, very cool! Throw in some nigger worship and you've got yourself a deal!
On Pokemon's official website, look it up (i.e. why every character is a nigger now)..png
SOLD!

What machines are people using as cheap emulation boxes these days? I'm looking for something that can emulate gamecube and PS2.
GC runs fine on my six year old, $200 Android (Moto g fast 2020) but PS2 needs a beefier system. My old Core i7 6700K (Skylake) ran PS2 well with just integrated graphics, so you don't need that hefty a PC, but you'd probably need to be close to top of the line ARM to have a chance. IIRC some Rockchip RK3588 systems can do PS2. Maybe a newish iPhone would do?
