Personally I'm hoping Natalia comes back to bash more zombies in the head with bricks.

Fuck, I still wish they'd take the direction 7 seemed to be going. Clean the slate. New characters. Drop the canon baggage. Localized horror. I nearly head desk'd when Chris showed up at the end of 7.

There's a reason, Rebecca sucks. Her voice is annoying, she's a minor character from 1 and her specialty skill is medicine. She has no business being in a swat team when she can barely handle a weapon. She had a game, it sucks. Rebecca hate.
I haven't read them in forever because they kind of suck lol but I believe that in the book adaptations, Rebecca is explained as only being with Bravo team as a learning opportunity (kind of like a job shadow), but that her ultimate role would be in a lab. I think RE1make is already a great remake and still very accessible to modern audiences even despite the tank controls and I don't think it's necessary to remake it yet again, BUT it would be a good opportunity for Capcom to tighten up everyone's stories a little so they make sense.

Specifically Chris' backstory has always bothered me because he either resigned or was dishonorably discharged from the Air Force, specifically for insubordination and attitude issues. You couldn't get a job in LE if you were dishonorably discharged from the military. One of the reasons for the discharge was that he disobeyed orders to go back for a fallen comrade, no branch of the military would discipline you for that it's part of the creed, if anything you'd be recognized for valor. Also knowing how he and Claire's parents died would be nice, getting custody of your sister at such a young age is not easy.

Idk this is turning into a Chrispost lol. A lot of people were upset with the way Chris was behaving in RE Village, I remember thinking wow this is great continuity from RE6, Chris is being irrational and short-tempered which is exactly how somebody dealing with the long-term side-effects of a traumatic brain injury would act! Only for it to just be shitty writing so Chris could be framed as a villain.

Jill is biologically 32, her aging was regressed by her conditions as a survivor of like 3 different viruses and being a guinea pig for Wesker, so if Chris ever bones her eventually it'll be like biologically fucking someone who could be his daughter, grim stuff.
Look we all know Chris's dick dont work from the steroids. You dont need to worry about Jill's breedability.

Now Claire on the other hand...

Decided to give REsident Evil 2 another go since I bought it on the last summer sale. Played through Leon’s story and actually enjoyed it more than I did in 2020 when I played it on PS4.

I can’t say this is a bad remake. Still prefer the OG RE2 as that game is legendary and goated. This game still looks really good. Ada looked hot as hell. I’ll probably play Claire’s story here in a bit.

yea Ada in the trenchcoat was pretty hot and I like Leon in 2 better than 4 Remake because.. he still acts kinda like 2 remake Leon, everyone liked that he was a quipy badass.

Which had the better IRL event this year?

The RE2/RE3 event in Las Vegas:
It kind of looks like an escape room. ngl I wonder what's the job like LARPing as a zombie all day, lol.

The RE9 event in Universal Studios Japan:
Seems to be more of a haunted house.

Finally finished RE9. Completed in 10 hours, two-sittings with a friend. Died 3 times, all as Leon.
I'm someone who likes long games in general, and love Alien Isolation aka "the overly long horror game," so it was somewhat surprising to me that I felt like the game was dragging around the "Leon in Raccoon city"-segment. It improved somewhat with the back-to-back boss fights post bomb assembly, but I was ready for it to be over by the time we got to ARK. The game does manage to have a few highlights once you get to this part (Orphanage section, Motorcycle chicanery, Commander fight) but I was losing steam rather quick.

Grace was okay. I was largely indifferent to her in much the same as I was with Ethan in 7.
The highlight of her sections was whenever Gideon showed up in a cutscene, who I rather enjoyed watching even if he was a nothing-character. (Not my video)

It's also the source of some grievances since she never shoots the fucker when she has a gun trained on him. Relating to that, it's somewhat of a shame we never get to see her "lock in" really, at least not for more than 10 minutes, and it creates a gameplay/narrative dissonance when I was so aflush with ammo by the end of her section in the clinic, that when it came time to play Leon there wasn't a single zombie left alive for him until he gets to Gideon's office—a part that only remained infested at all because Grace "Rambo" Ashford couldn't get to it with her shove-attack and 60+ handgun rounds.

It was also supremely bullshit how they had the blind girl (Chloe?) survive. "I didn't hit her vital organs"—she's a monster, how can you tell what you did or didn't hit?!
Spencer being regretful is a story decision I'm fine with in theory but it gets dumped on you in the last 30 minutes so you don't have time to think about how dumb/implausible it is. In this very game we play through a segment as a little girl who lived in an orphanage of other little girls who were all the subject of experimentation, and this was all conducted with the knowledge and approval of Spencer himself. I'm not certain if Elpis was a pre-RE2/3 or post-RE2/3 idea, but if Spencer only started to feel guilty after the city was bombed, then that means the girls were being experimented on for some unknown objective possibly related to bioweapon creation. Spencer's motive for doing such a thing in the first place could only be something that'd make being redemptive impossible since such a motive would not be in a man capable of feeling guilty or remorseful. But I digress.

3/5, maybe 3.5 out of 5.
I preferred it to 8, and found the zombies more engaging to fight with than the fodder we encountered in both its predecessors. It was more scary than 8, and that first section in the clinic was probably scarier than the Baker Mansion as a whole IMO.
The story was mostly just to introduce "The Connections," who are maybe the rival company that was mentioned a few times in the OG games, and in 7 and 8 I think.

Leon's infection felt like a contrivance to connect him more closely to Grace's plot and only affects gameplay with some purple screen effects in the last hour or so. It also introduces more questions about the fate of other Raccoon City survivors (are Jill and Claire infected too? If Sherry was infected than Claire must be too? We'll probably never know) I suspect Grace's happy ending is a sign we'll never see her again.

The also game canonises Leon A being the first route in the RE2 remake (Leon met Marvin) + Kendo survived racoon city (only 1 skeleton).

So yeah, not a bad game. The bar is very low in 2026 though.

The girls were all done by The Connections to try and unlock Elpis, Grace and maybe some previous clones before the Orphange were done by Spencer, for unknown means.

Spencer had already started on Elpis even before the RC Incident, he seemed to sense where the winds were going to blown on all the shit he started and how it completely got out of his hands and out of control, my take is that he was totally willing to trample on ethics and morals.. to a point, mass murder and the sheer scale, scope and longevity of the BOW's and what was to come was not on his plans, he never cared, nor wanted BOW's, it was all a means to an end for him, and making bio-weapons as actual subjects was mostly Birkin and to a lesser degree, Marcus, who steered the company in that direction., all Spencer wanted was to become a God and make everyone else Godly, but him first, and foremost, and he knew he wasn't going to get it, and the entire point of his moral and ethical line crossing was pointless.

Apparently the lead writer on Requiem also wrote Shadow Of Rose which explains the poor quality of the narrative.

Also leaks suggest the Requiem DLC is going to explore "Spencer's redemption."

You know, the guy who tortures children to death and who's actions have killed millions worldwide, that guy.

The in universe Hitler analog is the guy they want to give a redemption arc to.

its happened to worse characters, but usually in more light toned stories, like Vegeta.
