I may have played the original Separate Ways once or twice. Thought it was just okay.

As I said in the Horror thread, I'm interested in this because I never read the original script. I'm not one of those guys who thinks that the Romero version would have been a masterpiece because I've seen Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead. So, the Romero version could have been just as if not more of a shit show than the Paul W.S. Anderson discount Michael Bay slop.

The voice actress for Ada Wong in the recent RE4 Remake, Lily Gao, was harassed by "fans" who were unhappy with her performance in the game.

It was a photo containing a short statement titled “The Role of Privilege”, which was taken from the National Association of School Psychologist’s “Understanding Race and Privilege.” It reads as such:

Not to mention, people shouldn't be lying to defend her honor. No, the performance was shit. Yes, you probably shouldn't be writing a ten page essay in the VA's instagram comments telling her so. Both of these things can be true. It's not ENTIRELY her fault Capcom hired her to do a job she couldn't do.

Instead I've seen many a twitterfag now hype up ada's voice in efforts to combat the haturs.
Ada's not even the worst one in the cast.

Me too. I saw the comments saying she single-handedly ruined the remake, and found them needlessly harsh, but after seeing her whining about muh racism and privilege, she can go fuck herself.

Racism and white privilege didn't make her give such a piss-poor performance, and seeing her try to claim such proves what a cunt she actually is.

I'm sure someone is already working on it. You have plenty of material of Sally Cahill to work with since she's Ada in three games. I would go as far as getting Paul Mercier for Leon too since the guy they use is awful.
 
normally i don't pay VA's any mind because shit happens in the corporate world and a lot of them genuinely try their best and do what they can to get by, but the treatment of Ada in re4make is uncomfortably low-quality. the chemistry and circumstance between Leon and Ada is betrayed by this sub-par performance and it's embarrassing that anyone (especially Gao herself) would attempt to excuse it with laughable woke arguments. capcom's shameful miserliness, pinching pennies on the casting, is one thing; it's likely there wasn't any direction going by how poorly Krauser was depicted, but it's not unfair to judge the actress as making the most minimum of efforts.

also, the thing that made Ada a unique character to begin with is that she was never so blatantly ethnic. Ada Wong may be an alias, yet it's the sole indication you get of her being of Chinese descent. her original RE4 appearance was her overall best, if you ask me. Sally's charisma just can't be beat. the actress in RE6 wasn't that bad - bit subdued, felt too quiet and impassive most of the time, but it wasn't intolerable.

Jim Ward for Krauser, too. He might not talk a lot in RE 4, but Darkside Chronicles gave him a lot of talk time.

Can't wait for the whining that erupts if/when those mods come out.

I'm doing Professional right now. With the village, your best bet is to just run away for five minutes. Salavador spawns in even if you don't go in the house after two minutes. I tried dropping him for his treasure but he's an absolute tank in Pro it's not worth it. Del Lago is infuriating and I'm trying to beat Gigante right now. The faggot dog cutscene takes forever to trigger.

I'm surprised they fucked the controls up, I figured that was one of the main areas they could improve on. Level design tweaks sound good.

I'm also surprised they only covered the girls up and stopped their SJW shit there. Does Luis still drop his line about her ballistics? I can't imagine that stayed in.

Sounds like a mixed bag but better than expected tbh.

Ballistics line got dropped, it's replaced with this exchange which I thought was a bit cringe but I'm not going to write an essay about it.
