RE2 was all about fallout from Umbrella's shitfuckery, and many would consider the RE1 remake to be the best. RE4 and 7 are perhaps the most decisive titles in the series for various reasons. While some would consider 4 to be the best, I've yet to meet many who would consider 7 for that title.

I've always felt fondly of 7. It's short, but all the DLC we got was fun. The blackjack one was disgustingly fun and Jack Baker is my favorite pursuer type enemy. 7 really only lacked enemy variety imo and I still find it a top tier experience.

Aw i love this. But this reminds me that girl the blonde from Silent Hill 3. Heather Mason i think? The actress that played her, i feel like I read that she declined to revisit it or interview about it? I wonder why. She did a good job.

Just got done with the showcase.

Still not totally sold on the Shadows of Rose story but the RE4 portion left me a bit more optimistic.

I'm still skeptical of course but the gameplay portion at least seems to be true enough to the original while trying to keep it fresh.

On a more serious note, I really don't want to believe that we're getting more re6 emo Leon, but it seems like that's what we're getting. This series just takes itself so seriously that it won't allow itself to have fun anymore!

Don't like how they handled the first ganado scene. No unsettling turnaround? Just regular ol' zombie thing coming at you? No sudden axe swing? It gives you zero time to question what's wrong with these people, only that they're generic zombies and you gotta kill 'em.

What do you guys think?

I think in terms of Leon's personality they're giving him way too much of his serious side at least, although the part where he shot the lantern and said "Bill me for the repairs later" kind of hints he still has a bit of it in there, I just hope it's not the ONLY instance.

Intro scene definitely wasn't the best, they really should have stuck with how the original did it cause RE4 is far more cheesy action than it is a serious horror, it really doesn't suit it.

On the topic of the enemies I do like that Salvador actually seems more dangerous now with him swinging multiple times instead of just once, he might actually be kind of challenging now since you can't dodge him by just slowly walking backwards.

I am curious how they're going to make the knife work now since they're going the 2make route with it where it can break, might be an interesting mechanic to do with the parry system.
 
Looks pretty good. Mixed on the voices right now, but 4 is one of my most replayed games ever so nothing short of re-using voice lines would've sufficed. I also like how Luis is slimy as hell now.
 
Salazar is still in and looks mostly the same so there's almost certainly still going to be a bit of cheese. I don't see how a midget dude who looks 60 won't be played for laughs occasionally like in the original. I can't tell if Leon is the same voice actor from RE2make or not but Ada's voice was definitely the thing that stuck out, it's pretty damn awful. It's nice to see actual Spanish from Spain being spoken instead of Spexican but I'll miss the original just for how goofy it was.
 
Luis' face is extremely uncanny valley and lowkey freaks me out. And dear lord, Ada's voice.

Otherwise it looks decent so far, better than the SH2 remake. Glad to catch that glimpse of Del Lago.
 
As someone who's played the shit out of RE4 since it's release on the PS2, I'm so god damn happy the gameplay hasn't changed. After R3make, I wasn't expecting much.

I hope they keep the silliness, but I'd bet they won't.

Should have kept him some random gruff-voiced Australian and then doubled-down on that by adding Aussie terms, and then continue to explain nothing. "'Eaded to a Maccas after this, eh heh heh?"
