The psychosexual undercurrent made it feel like a cross between Resident Evil and Silent Hill, it's no surprise since it came from the (tragically late) writer of Code Veronica which had it's incestual and gender bender themes and imo has the best story of any Resident Evil game, the scariest horror is stuff that reminds you that the scariest monster is not a zombie, werewolf or anything crazy like that, but what your fellow man is capable of, which RE2 also deals with.

It reminds me of how in Stephen King's IT, the scariest moment in the novel is is the idea of a dad wanting to fuck his own daughter, despite revolving around the cosmic horror of Pennywise, the scariest thing is when he holds a mirror up to what everyday people are capable of.

That's not even the main bad guy of the game, it's the creepy old man who pretends to be her ally when he actually wants to use her to become immortal too. He's also technically her grandfather and is heavily implied to be as sexually attracted to her as Riccardo (the monk-looking guy who wants to impregnate her) is. All the villains want her body for their own reasons, and Debilitas (the groundskeeper) is arguably the only one who doesn't see her as a sex object in any way because he's retarded and just wants to play. That is indeed where a large portion of the horror stems from. The characters in Haunting Ground are basically a big fucked up family, and the whole plot kicked off because poor Fiona's grandfather and uncle are after the legendary alchemical power contained inside her uterus. If they did ever try to remake Haunting Ground it'd be an absolute disaster and most likely entirely rewritten.

On that note, Ashley getting toned down isn't surprising. There was no way they'd keep her skirt in, especially not the complaining she does if she thinks you're trying to see up it.

The joke is that Capcom made proto-DMC characters and instead of scrapping them decided to use them instead in a series about body horror and escaping hordes of the shambling dead.

This is the remake Capcom has always wanted to do. The only reason they even made RE3:Remake was so that no would complain that they skipped it in favor of 4, which is why it sucked and had so much cut content. They half-assed it. This one will get all the love and probably be pretty good, there's a lot that could be improved in the later sections of the game.

I highly doubt that. I'd imagine Capcom would just do something fanservicey like have him mention how he and Duke (from Village) were homies or something. That being said, I could still see Capcom, ruining the character in an unnecessary way.
 
I'm looking forward to the new models for the characters. I like having references to draw from for art. Also excited to see how gross and slimy the Plagas look in a modern engine.
 
I think it I'll be good like RE 2 remake was but the real question is how much will they cut out from the RE4 formula. Capcom has been moving in a more serious direction with the franchise and I can see a lot of the camp elements getting cut. They are probably going to lean RE4's opening hard.

Small PP joke might be funny in a cheesy way. I can only see a benefit from that.

Maybe we might even get a real boss fight with him before the flower vore hims.

my expectations are this low.

like Imagination the fucker duels you 1v1 because Leon insults his height or something like calling him some bootleg napoleon bonaparte, and he brings out a super long sword leading to a small pp joke about how he over compensating.

It could even be a joke 1 hit fight, and it likely still be better then what we are going to get with this remake.

Pfff, yeah I genuinely expected that, especially since RE4VR censored her and all jokes made about her curvy body. Here I was hoping Capcom learned their lesson from people complaining about REmake2&3 cutting content, but nope. Salute the past... women don't have tits anymore, they just don't exist.
