Resident Evil 3 Remake is apparently in development

It could be out as early as next year.

Following the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake, it looks like Capcom has moved onto its sequel. A report from YouTube channel Spawn Wave claims that a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is currently in development.
This shouldn't come as a surprise. Even before the launch of Resident Evil 2 Remaster, Capcom said it had plans to explore more remakes; plans that were likely solidified after Resident Evil 2's sales of nearly five million.

Resident Evil 3 originally launched in September '99, so an announcement this September would have been perfectly timed, but it's come and gone with no official word from Capcom. There was less than a two year gap between 2 and 3 the first time around, and if Capcom was planning on a similar cadence, a 2020 release date could be possible.

The Resident Evil II remake was good, played the hell out of it. But the missing segments annoyed me.

I'm super excited, but I'm worried that Capcom is going to have a much harder time selling this remake than 2. 2 is legendary and a pop culture icon, while 3 has been viewed as the awkward middle sibling between 2 and 4 in terms of relevance. And that sucks, because 3 had some really interesting ideas.

Until I see a trailer or Capcom themselves announce it, I'm not going to believe it.

Still I'm hopeful about it, RE3 was a good game and had so much new features, I pray they improve the choice system to actually have more weight to your choices. Also if Mr X in RE2 was terrifying, can't wait to see how they do Nemesis, since he had a rocket launcher.

Honestly I think they should reuse the original Resident Evil 1.5 concept of a giant Tyrant in a gas mask

Then when Jill does enough damage to it during their first fight, the mask gets knocked off and you see the ultra-fucked up face of New Nemesis

I absolutely loved the RE2 remake (Full disclosure, I hadn’t gotten into the series until then), so I’m excited to see the story continue, but I hope it isn’t frustrating actual long-time fans.
