These things are funded by a few people willing to sink money into the game to pay virtual employees just to get the powertrip of being a CEO. I always thought it were just a few bored people willing to pay timmy 10 cents in ingame currency to make him dance for him. But apparently some take it really seriously.

Bro, you have no idea how mega autistic and deep the Habbo lolcow rabbit hole goes. I used to work in the industry that Habbo operates in back in the early 2000's to mid 2010's, and it's always had this mega fucked up reputation among people in the space and I developed this strange morbid fascination with it as a result. I've orbited it for years now, there's always something mental going on to laugh at or be horrified by. Nobody playing Habbo in 2026 is a teenager anymore, it's all super autistic 20 - 40 year olds who treat it like real life.
The entire game is full of people who take themselves and the game itself way too seriously. I know stories about staff members who were e-dating users in the early 2000's, stories about current staff members doxing users they don't like by viewing their personal info via the housekeeping, countless cases of data-mishandling, staff users associating with known paedophiles, the company that runs Habbo hiring known paedophiles and doxers, users with sketchy pasts being given elevated privileges because they're personally cushy with the staff team, the list goes on. This is without even getting into the crazy RP scene, the Habbo hallways "gangs" that dox and swat each other over e-girls (or gay men pretending to be e-girls), the single British mothers in their 20's who sit on Habbo 24/7 looking for their next baby-daddy, the gambling scene and it's associated drama, the hacking scene and it's associated drama, the Discord and Twitter drama among users and staff, etc. It's a super small and tight-knit website, but the insane shit that goes on within it behind closed doors is endless. It's insanely fun to just monitor these people, it's sort of my secret guilty personal lolcow farm that I haven't shared with anyone.
Some of these corps/military/agency LARP's produce revenue in the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars and have been running on the game since 2005 or some shit - They deal in Habbo currency on the secondary market, and a lot of the people at the top of the foodchain who have access to the holding accounts for agency funds are corrupt and are siphoning funds off here and there. A lot of them boil down to what is basically a pyramid scheme. All of this would be fine if it was 13 year old autists doing cringe online RP for fun, but the majority of these people are in their 20's and 30's at this point and take it deadly serious.
A YouTuber called Trolligarch has a pretty in-depth series that touches on some of the weird shit that goes on on Habbo. It's very much worth a watch, but he glosses over some stuff. You might like his videos if you find this autistic shit as funny as I do.
That person might be salvagble. They're almost taking accountability. A rare occurrence on Reddit. They'll either take the L and move forward or fall down an anti-work hole.
