Harm reduction works when done properly (at least with opioids). It's part of why Europe doesn't have the same opioid crisis as the USA does. Give them access to free opioids (say methadone), an apartment with the first month of rent paid, and a free job. The last part is what's most important because it gives them a community outside of other homeless people, fills their hands with something to do, and turns them into legal workers who pay taxes etc instead of resorting to crime. Opioids don't fry the body or brain the same way other drugs do so they can just stay like this for as long as they like as long as they are functional and contributing to society.

The first 4 comments get read, the rest might as well not exist. Now imagine an AI shitting out the 10 first comments of varying extremist ranges, and then imagine people you otherwise respect and think highly of sitting there typing out several paragraphs to a fucking bot nobody is gonna read.
These people talk about their kids not being leftists like the Boomer MAGA parents they hate talk about their kids being gay.
