You're right. I was researching a relatively obscure topic last week using Google and I was able to find some discussions from ten years ago on various forums but most of the links were dead and unarchived. Even if I found a page that was still up the embeds we're missing and so were random things that would have been useful. The topic is so niche that it gets discussed less and less every year. Some of the only discussion I could find was reddit threads that were 7 years old.

People actually had real conversations about stuff back then. It wasn't just retarded jokes and repeated factoids that everyone already knew from some reel that went viral. I found a discord server I thought might be relevant and it was just kids with furry avatars who can't talk without using emojis 😭😭😭💀💀🤡🤡

Looks like reddit is now blocking TOR, in addition to the VPN blocking they were already doing. Their .onion still exists, but won't load pages. The only thing I've found that works is the .onion with the .old domain, and I'm sure that will be gone soon too.

the old.reddit.com works just fine for me on tor browser right now, but the www.reddit.com doesn't load properly

old.reddit isn't down. I happened to have it open because I was curious as well, so I grabbed a quick archive for ya.

The weirdest shit to me is when I see people like that making distinctions in whether or not a character has "agency" in their design. It's just such an insane, schizophrenic idea to me that they genuinely believe, a series of 0s and 1s having "agency".
