Some funny moments but kind of a boring episode overall, watching some gay guy from the early 2000s whine about "muh oppression" is hardly cute now considering how many of those people have since turned around and tried to oppress everyone else in the age of "just bake the cake, bigot" and every fucking company logo being changed to a rainbow for an entire fucking month, makes me miss 2002.

Not to mention the blatant bigotry towards Christians on display, two wrongs don't make a right friendo, there's no way a Church would try to expel someone for having a gay brother, how does that make any sense? You can't control what an entirely different person does or doesn't do, at worse a Church might expect you to cut ties with them, but there's no way you would also be expelled, that shows this Sam person is as ignorant and bigoted about Christianity as the supposed Christians he's railing against.

I'm not trying to slam gay people as a whole, just the ones that really wear it on their sleeves as their activism went from reasonable to unreasonable over time.

I was just glad the crazy church stuff didn't activate Rich Evans's fedora-tipping side, which is the only time I find him insufferable rather than a delight.

Thought it was a pretty funny episode, overall. The Jesus picture had me rolling.

I didn't think it was that boring. Sure it wasn't super funny or memorable but I loved how half the episode was dedicated to Mike talking about how a low budget film maker should have made things. I would watch an entire video of Mike and Rich making props, deconstructing a movie and saying how they would have made props or a certain effect on the cheap, or even them going to the thrift and switching price tags.

Also corona claims another one, RIP Jesus Jay's last video. I was rooting for him to keep growing the hair it but it was cut in The Boys talk, this must have been filmed before it. If previous scuttlebutt about Jay going through a breakup is true then cutting his hair means he's probably in a new relationship.

Watch RLM to get away from Current Year. Hope the next episode is just crazy 80s Philippine revenge movies.

I would suggest looking up their 'How Not to Make a Movie" documentary which is a retrospective on their old, shitty movie 'Gorrila Interrupted'. It's not exactly what you describe but it is more in depth talk of DIY amateur film making. A look back at a time when Mike wasn't fat and Jay wasn't hot.

I think this botw spotlight won't do much for folks watchin' who aren't as into creative efforts. Obviously the biggest draw is their pointing out little tips and tricks that one could do to improve it as a film, yeah, but it's the kind of thing that resonates across a lot of creative disciplines. "Why the fuck would you do that / wouldn't you do that?" is a pretty interesting thing to get in to, but I'm also the sort of weirdo who takes pleasure in ripping apart the really, obviously bad anatomy and sloppy craftsmanship in a lot of professional art assets and comics and so-on.

They say in the episode that they watch it not infrequently, which leads me to think that they're getting a lot more out of it than the average joe just looking to laugh at some shitty 80s low-budget sci-fi.

Listen, listen. If Rich -didn't- have that proverbial fedora on the top of his head, how would he have ever developed the receding hairline we all know and love? Perfection's got a lot of bumps.
