I mean, they're Gen X liberal bug-men who think that Star Trek's future is in any way remotely desirable. As grotesque as the fantasies of peace and understanding are, I don't completely hold it against them. They are however 1,000,000% better off not being remotely political right now.
 
funny thing is that the clip of the first presidental debate is more or less the Uk Parliment every day. If you looked up the history of how politicans back in the day handled things it's way tamer than today with stuff like how one senator caned another almost to death. There is some stuff that hasn't changed like Thomas Jefferson and John Adams used to send each other letters insulting each other during the election of 1800. The idea of civil politcal talks in the old days is kind of a myth IMO

I kinda get where they're coming from (and that debate was a shitnado) but the calmly pretending to be statesmen who only want what's best for the republic ( :story:) act is both faker and gayer than Star Track.

I think the last president who was actually like that IRL was Harry S. Truman, and he couldn't get elected to be a dog catcher today. (He also nuked the Japs twice, which is maybe slightly worse than Orange Man/Dementia Man yammering)

And on that TNG episode, the xenophobic conservatives had a point. It's extremely creepy how the Federation infiltrates and spies on less advanced societies, and their "friendship" doesn't seem to amount to very much.

So they wouldn't stop an asteroid killing billions of lifeforms on a pre-warp planet because muh prime directive, but if you're gullible enough to actually join the Federation what do you get out of it? Culturally assimilated by a bland, materialist and insufferably sanctimonious homo sapiens club that's basically a pastel-toned version of the Borg but without Alice Krige techno-BDSM sessions

And then we've got Picard, who would have let that little girl's planet blow up if it hadn't been for Data's interference.

Don't know about Rifftrax, but MST3K was definitely heavily scripted. It's why the original Tom Servo left as he felt it should've stayed ad libbing like they did for the original series run. Once they moved onto cable they'd have the whole group watching the movies together and trying to come up with jokes beforehand that Joel would read off his TV screen that he had in front of him (think that's how it was setup).

Makes it feel a bit cooler to watch that original run they did since it all means it apparently really was ad libbed for the most part.

The only difference between the Borg and the Federation is that the borg are obvious and honest in their intentions.

Well Rich is a fedora-tipper, so it makes sense that this and "Who Watches the Watchers?" are among his favorite TNG episodes. At least he didn't rag too much on Ensign Ro for her being religious in that one episode where she thought she was dead,. But it's clear that that episode was going to end with a materialist explanation for everything, because Star Trek bangs the Humanism drum like a 2 year old on a sugar high.

Considering they only briefly mentioned Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason, and showed only a brief clip of the remake, they might have decided they had enough material to talk about with those to make another full-length episode. If that's the case, then this video was probably "people will complain if we skip any of the movies so let's cram the little we have to say about these into one video." Still have another week to go until Halloween, so I could see one more episode.

Hopefully there will be another video just for the 2000s era movies, including the remake.

I wonder if there will be a Halloween special BOTW this year?
 
The latest movies deserve an episode of their own, because they were made when everybody involved in making them was aware that Jason was actually a clearly defined character. So far the discussion has barely reached the point where that definition became clear.
