So I think we can expect a lot more Re:View coming for now~ But they can't do too much of these because there's only so many classic they can talk about.
These are dire times for movie-content!
If you're talking about tiring out the Re:View format, then maybe. But they really haven't done that many movies in a Re:View form. And they've got 100 years worth of movies to talk about. I would gladly listen to any two of these hacks, (even Josh talking to a mirrored image of Josh) talk about any movie they want for 50 minutes. I don't care. They could do Re:Views once a week for 20 years and not really run out of stuff, because they can make the most obscure weirdness, like Top Secret, interesting to someone who has never seen it.

Does it have a "framing device" consisting of some Los Angeles scruffys getting laid in florid detail like something out of a Jackie Collins novel?

Yeah, the 'Johnny Truant' parts of the book really undercut it for me.

What, you mean you didn't think it was crucial to have the part where a girl sticks her finger up his butt which is like "pushing the "loud" button on a stereo for his orgasm"?

They did stuff like Freaked which is hardly a classic.

Also, there's over 3000 movies coming out every year, fully reviewing just a single year would give you decades of content.
This is the perfect time to dig a little deeper and talk about something else than Hollywood blockbusters.

Like others have said, Re:View might be the new show. I mean, I think the format is flexible for solo episodes. Hell, maybe even audio only if getting two people together is too much to ask for. There's decades of shlock to look at. Especially the 60s through the 90s.

Maybe Plinkett can finally review the Twilight series or break new ground by comparing the Ben Hurr movies.
Maybe we'll get the reviews of the Matrix 2&3 since the 4th film is in production.

I get it. I read Blood Meridian expecting the most fucked up shit happening in that book and walked away bored of it. Like, it was fine, but not the most brutally disgusting book ever written as it's often claimed to be.

It's weird how books get hyped up like that.

The only book that kinda fucked with me was American Psycho but it was more that it reminds me of my thinking.

I enjoyed Blood Meridian but it's something pseudo intellectuals like to say they read for points.

I'm running out of captains!
I just had to see Avery Brooks at a Captain's Panel to hate him and Kate Mulgrew well, I can't hate her.. but.. come on... Janeway :(
Mulgrew kind of ended up being the best. She's clearly liberal, but her feed isn't 90% FUCK ORANGE MAN like some of the other Trek alumns (looking at Takei and Combs). She's also anti abortion, and I guess feels a little ostracized over it. I dunno, she just seems reasonable, especially when you have Shatner complaining about gamergate, Stewart shilling for pitbulls, and.. whatever is going on with Avery Brooks.

Though I also have a hard time believing Shatner is the one writing this stuff.

House of Leaves was a terrible book. The author was so far up his own ass it was incredible. Now that I think about it, it's kind of like if JJ Abrams wrote a book. Flashy, well-packaged, with a convoluted story/mystery that has the appearance of being deep, but isn't.

I'd love to see Re:View tackling some animation, like Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings. The live action Flash Gordon movie would also be a fun watch, as would Phantom of the Paradise by Brian De Palma. Hell, go to any list of popular cult movies and just start from the top.

If we're talking about content ideas during the covid drought, Mike teased a Plinkett series on the Matrix movies. The 4th one will come out in the near future, and MAN would I enjoy a fresh look at those films now that we have more distance from them.
It won't happen, probably, since I'm pretty sure the only reason we got a Plinkett vid for Picard was that it was crapping on Mike's favorite show ever.

I'd love to see a double bill of Flash Gordon and Flesh Gordon (the 70's porn parody).
Both films had fascinating productions. The latter especially so, having giving a start to several Oscar winning Hollywood VFX artists, a legal battle with the feds who seized the film which ultimately culminated in the legalisation of 'oral copulation' in the US and a crazy tale of embezzlement, drugs and insanity that makes Boogie Nights look like a documentary based on it's making. All that and it also manages to be a love letter to the old Republic serials and influenced the 80's version to boot.

It's almost 100% this Paul Camuso faggot writing all of this. It looks as if he has whipped up previous dust-ups over "fan harassment" to drive donations to some scammy-sounding "anti-bullying" charity. I'm getting TransLifeLine vibes off of this.

It's absolutely him. I recall the Outlander shit being brought up a few years ago and rumors that Shatner's twitter was completely ghostwritten. Camuso's behaviour, if it is all him, which it is, is super duper pathetic and using celeb twitter to throw his weight around sure shows a thin skin- that's quality lolcow material.

You really have to wonder if this money Camuso demands for "Shatner" to unblock you is really going to a charity and not this creep's pockets

You should have stuck with it. Truant's brains get splattered all over the highway in a wreck. It was great.

I have no idea if the author is stuck up his own ass, but plenty of talented artists are.

But I think maybe you missed the point of the book, which was, in part, satirizing academia and now full of shit academics are. It's been over a decade since I read it, but it was pretty obvious... the absurdly labyrinthian footnotes alone are a tipoff.

It's filled with awful shit. You just had it oversold to you.
