Been a long, long time since Plinkett covered star trek....maybe I should rewatch those early pre-HITB/BOTW reviews and see if theres any hilariously cringe-in-retrospect predictions or speculations like Mike's infamous "wouldnt it be great if JJ did Star Wars?" line

What a weird rollercoaster to be on for RLM. One day we have the absolutely worst Re:View ever from a commentary perspective. The next hints of an epic Plinkett Picard takedown.

Seriously, the Freaks Re:View was borderline unwatchable for me, and I don't always hate Josh. But I decided while watching that Josh/Jay might be the worst pairing. If you took a shot every time either of them said 'Yeah, yeah yeah.' you'd be blissfully dead by the ten minute mark. Jay is an agreeable and enthusiastic guy most of the time, so he needs a correct foil, not someone even more agreeable and pandering. Josh has a hard time engaging with material on a deeper level, he usually just restates what happens in the movies they watch and agrees with someone else's analysis.

A voice actor named Sam Witwer (whom they've made fun of on several occasions for his Palpatine voice in some Star Wars cartoons and his performance in The Mist) responds. Witwer whines at them for being negative, passive aggressively tells them to make better stuff and also decides to bring the Whuhan Flu into it:

"Agree. Even with the flaws he had in this series, he's still about as ideal a human as we could ever hope to be."

Picard is basically Bike Cuck in this series, if Bike Cuck was also a serial murderer.

"Wah try it yourself first" is the clarion call rallying every industry hack who knows something is half-assed but they either can't or won't publicly admit to it. Especially given we've seen RLM make movies before. We know exactly how good of film makers they can be.
What I'm saying is Sam Witwer might've done more to earn twitter clout by posting Space Cop gifs in reply, instead of a typical wordswordswords hand-clutching whine.

so it was the ending that caused mike to snap out of his depression about star trek right into angry healing will come soon

using last jedi (a disaster of a star wars film) to defend star trek picard (from what i am to understand is a disaster of a star trek show) is kinda ironic

I really wanted to see Rich descend into madness as Mike kept forcing him to do Stark Trek related re:Views.

I fucking love how Rich has basically made peace with his disappointment over Picard and modern Star Trek as a whole (to the point where he said he’s in the “acceptance” phase of grief in the last re:View) but Mike keeps dragging him back on to talk about it and keeps pouring salt in the wound. Because Mike’s still not over it and needs someone who can understand his pain.

I'm more sad that Mike can't get into the Orville, because he's too obsessive over every. little. thing. he's seen already in Trek.

I feel that is why Mike is so desperate to get TREK, as he remembered it back again, and it's sad to say, but even later real Trek reused concepts a lot, so he hasn't come to accept that TNG had its time and that kind of thing can't just come around exactly the same again. He seems to have made his peace with this fact on The Motion Picture, but still not everywhere though.
He loves it so much, it's probably difficult for him. (I mean the Plinkett review of 09 was one of the softest reviews I think I've ever seen. He cut that piece of shit so much slack for giving him a brief "Trek Resurgence")

Give me the budget Picard had and I will 100% make something better.

"I wanna see [RLM] push themselves"

I mean Mike literally just appeared in a well-received AS pilot and got praise for his role in it.

I'm still choosing to believe the title of The Last Plinkett Review was meant to be literal, we are never getting a Rise of Skywalker review, and Picard was just so bad/personally affronting that Mike broke the character out of retirement.
