Also as others have said, I agree with Jay when he said the prequels are at least fun to laugh at. The sequel moves are just so boring and mediocre to me, and in my opinion that's the worst thing they can be because of how forgettable that makes them. The fact that nobody else even knew what Rey's theme sounded like was very telling.

It's nigh impossible to find new mando shit, especially since all the retailers reduced Star Wars merch prices by 50% carte blanche and then suddenly all the Mando shit was sold out but all the ROS stuff still warms shelves.

I was glad that I got the Raider AT-ST when I did, I always wanted Mad Max styled Star Wars vehicles.

I suppose my only disagreements with their TRoS review are more meta things -

We disliked it for different reasons than those other nerds, then proceeds to talk about stuff that everyone else has talked about. I think part of this seeming disdain they have for the plinkett reviews which some people take as a gospel, so I get it.

They also seem to be under the impression that people started disliking TFA around the time TLJ came out because it was in fashion. For some, maybe, but I think it was that TLJ just smashed every flimsy plot point in TFA and made people think about it in retrospect.

I sorta disagree with Rich and Jay on two points:

"Luke being grey was a good idea and people would have always hated it." Well Star Wars fans are REALLY into their head canons, so there would always be dissenters but I think it was the execution of which turned people off. Luke acts massively out of character and the reason why he is that way is because of a massively out of character event that is never properly explained.

"You can't do anything with Star Wars" I don't think you can do anything with it in a major blockbuster capacity for sometime, but The Mandalorian is getting good reviews and that has more of a western vibe. You can try different genres but it will always be put on smaller formats.

Other than that I liked it and the running gag about the pacing was my favorite part.

I don't really want a plinkett review of this film honestly.

Jon Favreau should have been put in charge of Disney's Star Wars from the beginning, as was originally considered.

I watched Favreau's directorial debut "Made" recently with him and Vince Vaughn, at first I didn't think the movie was great, but it started to win me over and the ending packed such an emotional punch, I was surprised at how touching it was.

So he's a guy that knows what the hell he is doing.

I watched Favreau's directorial debut "Made" recently with him and Vince Vaughn, at first I didn't think the movie was great, but it started to win me over and the ending packed such an emotional punch, I was surprised at how touching it was.

So he's a guy that knows what the hell he is doing.

Dude can also be a yes man, see his soul less Lion King remake, or Iron Man 2 which isn't a film more so a set-upto the MCU, so if a studio asks him to do something which is bad for the film, he will do it.

Not say he doesn't have talent or wouldn't be a good fit, he would just need a lot of control unlike those two other studio films.

I've seen it and it really makes no sense. Some editing choices make certain scenes look like they skipped through something and plot points are not explained at all besides "lol the force" or "just buy this book to understand the movie!"

They seemed defensive about Rey since TFA. I remember from their R1 review that they said Daisy Ridley had "charisma" as Rey, which I never saw.

Yes, while The Lion King remake was totally a job that a hack would do, Disney Star Wars should be so lucky if they managed to make a movie of the same quality as Iron Man 2 at this point, let alone one of the better Marvel movies.

Jon Favreau, so far, seems to know his shit about what Star Wars fans want to see. If even the likes of Mike and Rich, the most jaded and tired Star Wars fans, have nice things to say about The Mandalorian, then I'd say that Favreau knows what he's doing right now.

honestly more of a run down on current disney. from stuff like the soulless live action remake that prey on nostalgia, to the generic marvel formula, how their movies are just products with no creativity and how this impacts every area of their business not just Star Wars. Also could go into the impact it is having on other studios, as well as the Disney monopoly which keeps on growing.

but then they always had a strange opinion even about the old trek movies. I agree that old trek wouldn't really work on the big screen, but come on, picard getting his hands dirty isn't out of this world since he rose through the ranks not sitting on his ass all day. and even when they shit on STD they're fine with the mirror arc and everything it entails for some reason, even rich (mirror episodes are funny "what if" episodes, the universe makes no fucking sense, making it overly canon is fucking retarded)

also explains their star wars stuff, they're trekkies first, and there is always some of snobbishness involved even in the best cases (vs the "trek is fucking boring" sw nerd mentality). you can even see it some episodes, like "they get to have the millenium falcon several times, why don't we get the galaxy class".
