I'm so sick of Mack at this point. He's not bad, he can give a passable movie discussion, I just don't find him genuine. This is the second time he has shown up recently with a Dick the birthday boy shirt (probably designed by his Bunny Ears team) like some creepy obsessed fan. If they aren't already for sale through Bunny Ears I feel they will be soon. I haven't watched a ton of Re:view but aren't the discussions usually between 2 people who BOTH love a specific movie or are at least very familiar? In this case it was Mack who claimed to love this movie but Mike had only watched it once for the review. You can tell because he comes off so tired and bored the whole time. It's also odd for Mike to toss in trivia facts like he just read wikipedia on the movie and a few side links like Berry Gordy and Vanity. And for a movie Mack claims to love so much he continuously got the Lisa name wrong. Mack is an RLM dingleberry. I would bet anything it's Mack doing all the reaching out and Mike just nodding along. Mike isn't the one calling Mack up and begging him to be on the show. It's more like Mack calling him up saying I need content and I'm bored hey I've got free time want to have me on again? Hey let's do a review on this movie you've never seen! And Mike, who should be wary of this sort of thing but is probably still in awe that his little movie review show has opened the door to D list celebrity friends, just says sure buddy! Maybe we need a Mack pool where we bet when and where he's going to pop up again.

Off the top of my head, when they reviewed Independence Day, Mike and Jay weren't too into it (remember, Mike even said that he liked the sequel more than the original). The Blair Witch Project was something Jay was into, but Mike saw it when it came out and only rewatched it before doing the video and was okay with it, but not incredibly impressed. He didn't really get into the whole lore of the movie, which was more exciting for Jay. And speaking of Jay, he didn't really love Blade Runner, which people always got mad about. Granted, he was familiar with it, but he could never get into it. There's probably been a couple of other movies one of the guys had seen only just before doing the video, but I can't recall.

In any case, I don't see a problem with going for a movie one half only saw recently. There's no rules for the series, really, otherwise why do the STD videos under the Re:view title? It's them mostly discusing actual older movies and sometimes their sequels (or comparing recent remakes of older movies, as seen with Suspiria) that don't fit under any of their other formats and also the Star Trek franchise because why not. I figure Mac suggested this to Mike (I remember Mike saying in their Star Trek: TMP video that Josh was actually the one who wanted to watch it for Re:view, so whenever they have a guest they go with their wishes) and he liked it so was cool discussing it.

I do like them doing long-form discussions over any films, new to them or old, as there's not really anywhere else to catalogue them. I also like when there are contrary viewpoints on films as long as it's done well, as it gives a sense that it's not only about nostalgia and might provoke more interesting views. If the non-adoring style is done badly you get James Rolfe's "I don't like the Fifth Element, everybody else please talk about it" debacle, and RLM have never done that badly.

Same thing with the Re:view of Predator with Jay and Jack. They were just going off the top of their heads from when they saw it as adolescents and what they learned about the behind the scenes stuff throughout the years.

Aight I stand corrected then, Re:view isn't always for both parties to flex their knowledge on a movie. It's just another catch all movie discussion show that doesn't fit the recency requirement of HitB or roundtable format of BotW. I've never heard of or seen this movie but it looked like an interesting watch. Is it actually worth watching though? Seemed like Mack would recommend it but I'm not sure I got the vibe Mike would.

Yeah, and his stupid chuckle was (mostly) gone or edited out. maybe i can start like him as an regular...
Maybe if he dropped the "nyesss" weird inflection he has. Like everything ends with a question?
