He's actually explicitly not a member of Red Letter Media (only Mike, Jay and Rich are).
He also isn't paid at all for his time on Best of the Worst (neither is Josh). They only pay him for when he does editing/VFX work for them (like with Space Cop).
He's also mentioned that he was unhappy that Jay and Mike had posters made that feature his likeness without his permission.

In that last link he jokes about having every Best of the Worst episode taken down because he never signed a legal waiver so that they could feature him (so AIDSMoby has a nuclear option over much of their content, or at least thinks he does). However, he states a little later that he probably couldn't do that because of "implied consent."So who knows.
He could probably cause them a fuckton of legal issues if he wanted.

Interesting times ahead, kiwis.

I doubt Jack is a big enough asshole to start any trouble like that.

Maybe Jay and Mike let them use the studio
Jay and Rich used to use the studio to film Pre Rec but it doesn't seem like they considered that a form of payment or anything.
they don't care about YT revenue since the majority of their income is from Patreon and merch.
Jack and Josh don't get any of the Patreon/merch money, only Rich, Jay and Mike do.
Unless you mean Pre Recorded's Patreon, which Jack used to get a share of because he and Rich are Pre Recorded. But now that Pre Recorded is over his only income would be from freelance filming/editing work (which has always been his main source of income).

I think I remember someone on reddit mentioning that Josh works at a theatre or something.

So yeah, there's a lot of incentive for Jack to want to become successful in his own right because he isn't getting much out of being in RLM's content. Though why the hell he would think making videos with Lupa would lead to success when she's a serial failure is a mystery, maybe she just asked him and he obliged out of pity.

It kinda makes you wonder if ending PreRec really was a mutual decision, or whether there was some major resentment behind the scenes that led Jack to pull the plug when he did.

I get the impression that Rich just didn't want to do it anymore. That much seems obvious.

Can you imagine if Jack takes Josh's spot as the worst member of RLM through bullshit shenanigans?

I used to think Jack was only marginally better than Josh, but now actually don't mind Jack at all. It would take a lot for him to dethrone Josh, who seems to delight in being a wet blanket.

I believe it was that and a combination of the show not getting the views they had hoped for and so put it to sleep.

Well, shit. I never minded Jack before. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a total jerk (though I wouldn't put it past him, considering that so many internet personalities turn into lolcows).

Though, I will say: It was a dick move for him to mention that print with his "likeness" on a fucking livestream. Just watched the clip, and it was every bit as uncomfortable as I was expecting. Rich looked obviously uncomfortable.

Yeah, Rich looked really fucking nervous in that clip. Like, way more nervous than I actually thought he would. The way he interacts with Jack normally makes me think they're good friends but Rich looks like he's ready to die the minute Jack brings that up. I understand Jack's worry about copyright in this day and age where anyone can just steal your face and pretend to be you and represent you, but I hope that firing switch is secure since that's a lot of legal power to have over a random webshow you're supposed to be doing with friends.

What'd Josh ever do? Like, seriously, I don't really follow any behind-the-scenes whatever, and he only ever struck me as just another dude in episodes.

He's an uncharismatic wet-blanket. Most obvious being the Juicy Shaq Meat clip where he seemed genuinely irritated that Mike was diverting away from the movie.

They introduced me to FTL and I'm grateful for that, but yeah, as livestreams went it had an unfortunate tendency toward the lame. Their New Vegas episode was unwatchable.

They had some pretty weird hangups about which games they would and wouldn't play. Jack refused to watch cutscenes. Rich would refuse to play a game unless he could watch the cutscenes. Jack gravitated towards shitty indie games. Rich would only play XCom and FtL. Rich couldn't talk if he was playing. Jack would never shut up. Neither were any good at video games, which meant you were often subjected to Dean Takahashi level gameplay on their streams.

The best episodes were the ones that had a third person around because then you'd have a more RLM-like dynamic. Jessi, Jay and the Canadians all added something that was missing when it was just Jack and Rich. The only guest I hated was Rich's fiancee because she brought out Rich's smugness and was super obnoxious.

A lot of it is petty bullshit over his politics as espoused on twitter, but Josh being unable to read the room and trying to earnestly discuss movies the rest of RLM has written off as irredeemably awful and are in the process of lampooning is a big part of why so many fans dislike him. He's basically the unfunny straight man in some of the episodes and people wrote him off because of it.

This is also why he's leagues better/more interesting in his re:view appearances, where comedy doesn't factor into the overall discussion.

It did lead to this classic moment:

It was boring as fuck. If they played retro games i prob. wouldn't mind as much.
Unedited live streams are never as good as concise edited videos. That said I enjoyed this particular review.

He obviously hated modern video games to the point where I wondered why they even bothered and sure enough, they called it quits.

I've never minded Jack as well.
