To be fair on Mike's part, people had already eviscerated The Last Jedi inside and out. And people are still eviscerating it all over the internet to this day. Trust me, I hate The Last Jedi with every fiber of my being, but I'm very much "over it" when it comes to people bashing the movie at this point. Not that others can't bash it, but I personally would just prefer to forget the movie ever happened (and I mostly have; I couldn't care less about Star Wars at this point).

I thought that the "Real Plinkett" review was great. It picked on most of the issues about the movie without it being as long as a MauLer video, while also avoiding the forced politics. You can easily tear The Last Jedi (and its characters like Holdo and Rose) apart without even needing to tackle the forced feminist messages, and since everyone still continues to do it, I guess that Mike felt the need to not touch that subject.

It's funny though: Even though Mike didn't touch upon that stuff, there were still progressive bloggers who called RLM every name in the book after the Plinkett review came out.

That said, the "Fake Plinkett" review was great too.

I finished the Last Straw video last night and if I were Mike and saw that I'd be sweating at least a little. Because the guy beat Mike at his own game.

I dunno, I've very much gotten the sense over the last few years -- since the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull review -- that RLM has sort of moved beyond the Plinkett reviews. They're going like a house afire with Best of the Worst, and it seems like there's a new Re:View every few weeks. I also think they just don't give a shit about Star Wars as much as they used to, which, to be fair, seems to be an increasingly common reaction to Disney's manhandling of the franchise.

IDK why everyone was upset that Mike didn't rip apart the movie in his review, it's literally the same tactic he took with his Ghostbusters 2016 review: reject the premise that the lack of interest/dissatisfaction with the film is because of politics and instead show how the film's a lazy mess while completely ignoring any political implications. The anti-SJW "Lucasfilm political agenda" people making these moviebob-tier 3-5 hour long dissertations about feminist agendas infecting their entertainment are just feeding into Disney's argument that politics is the sole reason people take umbrage with their films.

I fully believe the title of the Last Jedi review is literal:
EDIT: Which is a shame because he teased a Matrix trilogy Plinkett video and I would love to see more discussion on the creative decisions made in those films.

I hope it's not the last Plinkett review ever. I remember when there were Plinkett reviews of movies like Titanic and Baby's Day Out, and it royally pissed fans of the channel off (because they weren't Star Wars or Star Trek videos), but I enjoyed the hell out of those videos; they're hilarious.

If they decide to do Plinkett videos without Star Wars reviews from here on out, I wouldn't mind. I'll watch ANY Plinkett video. I'd love to see an analysis of The Matrix Trilogy, and I'd love to see more reviews of dumb movies like Baby's Day Out.

The Matrix would just be one video, I'd hope. Maybe two, like why the first one was successful at being engrossing and how Reloaded and Revolutions failed to make a similar connection. One for each of them might be too much.

Mike doesn’t need to do another big, hard hitting Plinkett review. He’s already made a huge, permanent mark on the YouTube, fandom, and film critique scenes. RLM is the YouTube channel other YouTubers watch after all.

The madman did this in his Plinkett voice.

Yeah ... I don't think that Mike has quite moved on from Star Wars yet, guys. I can hear whatever is left of his fanboy heart breaking in this video. lol.
Which is kinda worse, really. Disney managed to drag out whatever little bit of fanboy was left...and then shoot it in the head in front of him.

Isn't that what Disney has done to us all? Not just with star wars but almost everything else they have grabbed up?

The absolute state of Star Wars in 2019:

We all expected something bad with this trailer (and the whole movie, for that matter). I know I did. I was not expecting them to dig up Palpatine. Like, Disney is apparently talented at finding new ways to piss fans off. It's almost impressive at this point.

Prayer circle for Mike's liver.

I hope the Nerd Crew is coming <3

Oh I think we know who's coming.

To be totally fair, Palps coming back is almost certainly a byproduct of JJ desperately trying to fix the story Rian closed the book on by killing off the trilogy's actual villain for no reason.

I'm still shocked that Disney/Kennedy allowed him to do that and among other things. Kill off the big bad of the new trilogy, kill him off in a very un-dramatic way, and inform the audience literally nothing about his character. We know absolutely nothing about Snoke. It's like something Lucas would have done in the prequels but Lucas at least expanded characters in EU media. General Grievous was given a lot of screen time in the Clone Wars cartoon.
