Why is Rich's hand signal blurred out at 5:11?
It's running with the gag of him having words bleeped out. They're implying he's flipping someone off.

P.S. I love the Rocketeer and tried to get the factory to install a jetpack in me.

The engineer just handed me a book of matches and said to strike my shiny metal ass.

The Rocketeer both the film and the original Dave Stevens comic are entirely my sort of thing. Though for the film the designer of the rocketpack was Howard Hughes - in the comic Cliff Secord's engineer pal Peavey concludes that's who it must be - and it was an unnamed cameo by else entirely (shouted via megaphone: DOC SAVAGE!!!!) they couldn't use for the film, for many obvious reasons.

Anyways, the various references made in the series were just part of the sort of atmosphere and style Stevens was trying to evoke when he started on his title back in 1981, that whole specific aesthetic of pulp fiction derring-do high adventure spirit that was not very common in comics in the early 1980s.

This was a great one.

I was a kid when I saw The Rocketeer the first time. And I loved it more than most kids my age, especially the rocket pack itself. This ReView actually helped me understand why I felt the way I felt about the movie (both my likes and dislikes). Not bad for hack fraud YouTube content.

And... you know those mini-epiphanies you sometimes have where you realize something about your past was much different than you had always assumed? Seeing young Jennifer Connelly again made me realize I was crushing hard on her long before I had assumed I was paying attention to girls. What a total knockout she was (and still is).

I'm not a comic book guy, but I think I love everything about this page.

Especially when she goes ass to ass.

I leave a playlist of RLM on whenever I draw or noodle with my guitars or whatever and I think I've pinpointed the exact moment I started disliking Josh: When he becomes a whiny fucking baby over the "Juicy Shaq Meat" bit.

Like, dude, you always rip into Rich for being a dingus, and you rightfully should, but when it turns back around onto you looking like a fool vicariously it's some big fucking to-do.
