And the Dr. Strange movie should hardly even be considered a Sam Raimi movie, lol. We all know that was a studio-made film, with very few exceptions here and there. Hell, is it even a movie? It's god awful.
I could see Sam channeling his previous movies here and there which RLM pointed out in their half in the bag on it but aside from that and the spinning camera angles it really was just a by-the-books marvel movie that they slapped his name on. I bet Raimi only did it so he could do the post credits scene with Bruce Campbell, which fair enough if that's the case.

On a friend's insistence I'm watching through the final season of My Hero Academia and it is so damn good....
If you think the end is good you should watch the whole thing.

The Final War arc is the weakest part of the series. Giving the guy with One Shot Death touch Regeneration was a massive mistake.

Literally the only moments in the movie that managed to make me crack a tiny smile are the moments that almost everyone said were "too cheesy." And those were the moments that had Raimi's fingerprints on them.

Zombie Strange? Dr. Strange fighting another Dr. Strange with literal musical notes? Yes, those moments made me smile. "Cheese" be damned. The movie needed those moments to be longer, and to be more frequent.

Dr. Strange is a good fit for someone like Sam Raimi ... The MCU, however, isn't.

Drag Me To Hell is ... Underrated as hell. It doesn't get nearly as much love as it should.
It's one of those movies where everytime I watch it I hope that there's some way everything can turn out OK for her this time. Some of my favorite movies are like that. When I watch Jurassic Park a small part of me hopes the tour is a success. They're thrilling enough for me to care and be invested in the world they've created. There's not a lot of movies I feel that way for.

Dr. Strange ATMOM being ranked over Spider-Man 1…
I have to assume the fries tried to escape Rich Evans and his unbelievably shitty story tastes and that’s how he almost burned nana’s kitchen down.

I don’t blame Sam Raimi in any way, because it’s known how much of a leash Disney places on directors for the MCU, but that’s what makes Spider-Man so much superior. Sam was allowed to be a comic lover AND a director. Disney wrangled him into their curated line of slop. I think it was 3 where the studio started meddling too much right?

Spider-Man 3 was completely fucked with by Sony Pictures.

Raimi had actually scripted a trilogy for the Symbiote storyline, with it going like it did in the comics, where Spidey had the symbiotic suit for years before finding out it was dangerous, getting rid of it and then the symbiote escaping and finding Eddie to become Venom.

Sony wanted every character and all the plot points compressed into one movie because key contracts were ending at the third movie and some character rights would revert to Marvel if not used that year.

Raimi basically said “Fuck it, I’ll give them what they want, but I won’t enjoy it” and we got the confused mess that is Spider-Man 3.

The more important question is why did Remy write the only Hebrew dialogue for Peter Parker in all three movies (shalom) in a scene where Peter is infested by a parasite that makes him evil?

This is one of the earliest “the studio did it” stories I remember hearing, but I didn’t know all the details. It was so bad, I remember kids at school not even blaming the director, which was pretty early for our age group at the time.

You watch all 3 and you can just tell he’s not at fault.

Looking back, couldn’t the studio have just had him hint at those characters and that be enough? I’m not sure how much satisfies copyright, but they still suck for that.

Character rights contracts determine what counts, and the Marvel contracts stipulated the character had to appear as a character in the story and be identifiable as such.

Who the fuck is Remy? Your French gay lover?
He gon make his mark.

E: Also, Spider-man 1 is kinda meh. Never liked Kirsten Dunst and Robo-Green Goblin was stupid. Still miles above current superhero schlock, mind, but I never really got into it much.

Spidey 2 is where its at, though.

Ok first of all Rich has been a Redditor since before it was cool. He was subscribed to The Armored Skeptic back in the day. This is not a recent development.

Second, the way his brain breaks when he has to use words for any length of time cracks me up. He says he has been on a Blondie kick and on the way to see "Send Help" he had been listening to "One Way or the Other".

It's "One Way or Another", big guy.

It has some good moments and Raimi really understood the characters... mostly. Like that scene where Green Goblin bursts into Jameson's office and threatens him. Scared out of his mind, we see the honorable reporter come back and JJJ refuses to give up Peter, despite the kid being right there, all he needs to do is point.

By mostly, I mean he didn't understand why MJ worked as Peter's love interest. He decided to give her Gwen's more dour personality and took out a lot of the life and joy that made Mary Jane Watson so endearing and beloved. MJ wasn't the girl next door, she was a supermodel Peter never thought he'd have a chance with and was shocked to learn that she saw the man under the nerd and loved him despite their differences. Raimi's MJ was just a whiny, self-centered bitch who jumped from dick to dick until she learned Peter was Spidey. And the less said about Venom, the better.

But those movies do still hold a place in my heart. But so does Space Jam so take that as you will.

If one of these hack frauds were to say something outrageous like defending an objectively bad movie, it encourages people to watch the video, to comment on it, and to encourage others to do the same.
It also damages their credibility like with The Acolyte and Obi-wan reviews showed and that lowers viewership while other Youtubers get to use it as content.

I keep hearing about "Paul" as if he's the devil. What's the deal with this guy?
Peter Parker went on some alt universe adventure where he was away for like a day from his perspective and it was years from the main universe perspective. He gets back, and now Paul is the guy living with MJ, maybe raising a kid with her? Plus look at his face:

Per gizmodo (so how accurate is it?) the backstory is:
Hopping through the multiverse battling their version of the Emissary, Mary Jane was forced to send Peter back to Earth-616 without her—only to find when they reunited that multiversal time dilation had led to MJ and Paul spending four years together, adopting two children and falling in love, bringing to an end once more Peter and MJ’s relationship. Much to the furor of fans, Paul made his way back to Earth-616 and has continued to be a prominent part of MJ’s life ever since.

Prepare to be disappointed.
Hey I'm about halfway and I can't be. They did the biggest payoff with AFO so now it's just a mop up.

If you think the end is good you should watch the whole thing.

I actually have most of the series (only need like 2 more seasons) and watched all 3 movies.

They should have given him ward instead...

(I know you'd appreciate that joke.)

Fuck, Peter should qualify as an Army veteran after getting cucked that hard while he was away defending his country

The "adopted children" part is a great tell. "Oh, don't worry, true believers, Paul didn't actually pollute her womb with his poison seed!"

Hot take: Age has been kind to Spider-Man 3. I've never hated the movie at all, just thought it was obviously inferior to the first two. I've been defending this movie to people for almost 20 years now, lol. It never deserved the amount of hate that it got.

Spider-Man 3 was for sure fucked around with by Sony, but it still managed to feel like a Sam Raimi movie in many aspects. As clunky as the storytelling is in the movie (with all of the shoehorned characters that Sony forced), the movie still had something to say, and it still had tons of heart ... Which is so much more than what I can say about all other capeshit slop that's come out in the past several years.

The Dr. Strange movie, on the other hand ... That got SO fucked around with by Marvel that it hardly resembles a film, let alone a film with a director known for his style and tone.

Why does he look like Gordon Freeman? Did a resonance cascade cause this?
