Interesting decision by RLM to get an actual murderer invited for this year's Halloween episode:

View attachment 7865711
He's my least favorite guest. He sucked the life out of the room and seemed to sabotage every softball joke they lobbed at him. Even all the other cringe faggots like Max Landis and Kabasinki or whatever his name was at least seemed excited to be there. Holy shit that's disappointing, their Halloween episodes are usually highlights for me. Guess I'll just have to rewatch the other specials for spooky season.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Restricted mode has an absurd 99.999% correct age approximation and a lot of Youtube channels are dependent on children watching them by the almighty recommendations even if their content is mature.
HIlariously, Jack is one of the shitty bottom feeder nepobabies on Second Wind. It's been discussed in the Yahtzee thread for a while how ridiculous it is that he lets these hangers on surround him and leech money from the channel all because he's too fucking lazy to manage his own channel or simply find an editor and a real manager to handle the business shit(both of these professions exist and plenty of other channels do them). Instead he's glued to the hip of Nick Calandra calling the shots and paying idiots like Jack.
Seemingly the only thing those people are good for is knowing other people in their beta orbiter circles. Which is all well and good until the channel implodes and those people use their friends to fling shit.

its also shows how out of touch 2nd wind and these guys are that they're talking about this now instead of a decade ago. the adpocalypse fucked over so many creators and it was so huge that only talking about demonetization now just shows how out of touch you are, its like how South Park only now is talking about trump, you're a decade behind the culture.
They are perfectly okay with the algorithm until the millisecond it affects them and then it needs a very special episode.

Thanks Jack Packard for crying to RLM about your Second Wind bullshit.

Yeah, Jack. It’s the algorithm’s fault I’m not watching your follow-us-on-Bluesky faggotry. Surely can’t be because I’d rather slit my wrists than support whatever the fuck this is.

you know this sounds stupid at first but think about how many people discovered Zero punctuation or RLM as high schoolers, when youtube first started it felt like the median age was 17, i'm sure there are plenty of channels out there that didn't realize how even having a small percentage of your viewers be under age can fuck you over.

especially for shitty but legacy content like RLM or 2nd wind its very likely some dumb kid that doesn't know better is watching. if you were 7 when gamergate happened you're on the cusp of 18 now. and you were 10 when the last jedi game out, meaning right around the age of the target demo for plinket

Even if this new age approximation system is accurate, Youtube still rates videos as "mature content" based on another system that's complete horseshit. RLM's video before this one (Black Spine Junkie with Josh 2) is now rated as such. The main goal is to get you to register an account if you don't have one because people without logins can't watch age restricted videos. I believe that other reasons aren't as important.

P.S. I haven't seen the last video yet, so maybe they mention that.

What's funny is the day before their video I got recommended a Second Wind video. I had never watched their channel and got burned out of Escapist videos years ago. It was Some video by Yahtzee saying he plays the YouTube mobile games, which maybe that's why it showed up? Youtube saw it as an advertisement for themselves and that's why Yahtzee made it? I did test out putting my account in restricted mode and did remove a ton of videos from my subscription feed and was really inconsistent of what they would show. There was cope on their end, though. The videos they said did well did not show up for me when I put it in restricted mode

Finally getting around to watching the junka ep and the bitch segment has cemented it for me:

Not only is Hollywood Josh one of the funniest side characters, he's at least on par with current Mike and Rich, likely surpassing their modern comedic chops

Man, all theese months later, there still butt hurt that people pointed out the hypocrisy of shitting on people for caring about star wars while still deeply caring about star trek. they don't care about kids starving in africa as much as they do about that very mild criticism.

He could be far funnier if he didn't act deferential toward the hack frauds. I watched the guy manage to hold his own against Craig Ferguson for years.

Star Trek is better than Star Wars, and I don't like black people.

For me, it's their episode about the Dahmer series where they played whimsical music for laughs over the stories of white women being brutalized and murdered because how dare people care about white women dying horribly when brown people also exist.

To be fair to the Milwaukee boys, there is something very fucky going in with YouTube at the moment, I’ve noticed that a bunch of recently released videos didn’t show up in my subscription feed.

The latest Matt Orchard video didn’t show and it looks like it’s don’t bad numbers despite it being a decent channel and covering a popular topic (Karen Reed).

They make a good point about using other video platforms. I know that there’s always posters in here telling them to move platforms, or set up their own (lol) but unfortunately YouTube is the biggest platform in town and you have to play by their rules, even if they are schizophrenic.

That Plinkett Video: Mike is so, so cynical that he decided to facetiously praise The Acolyte in the same way Prequel fans sincerely do. The meta aspect is him running a Prequel fanboy script but replacing "The Prequels" with "The Acolyte" he no doubt still dislikes The Acolyte but he's playing cynical sarcasm games for fun to show how retarded those people are. Was it funny enough to warrant a whole video.... eh. As many people said here, the Acolyte is completely irrelevant at this point.

Junka: Josh breathes new life into them. I'm not a diehard Mike hater but seeing him take jokes at his expense and laugh was great, as it relieved the years of tension of him taking himself too seriously. It was also nice to see him happy. :) It makes you feel like they still have drive to make videos.

This is a fantastic point. When people like Pewdiepie were blowing up to the point all your aunts and uncles knew him, it was because of his 8-15 year old fans. I remember talking to my family about how these grown adults need to cater to child audiences, because children have the most free time and least developed brains to nurture attachment and fan loyalty. You have to build your entertainment channel off the backs of children, so having YouTube attempt to shield these kids from f-bombs and sex pervert videos rocks your entire world.
