I don't know if you're like ESL or something or if you're being obtuse and pedantic on purpose but I never said that they need to release the original versions in 4K with special effects recreated. The 4K James Cameron movies was just a recent example of how a director can fuck up his own movies. No one has ever mentioned to my knowledge asking for such a task to be done, I merely said all they need to do is release the originals in as high quality as they can.
I think I'm fairly vindicated in reading your statement that way because you're reiterating it right now. We always had the old VHS releases and like you just mentioned we have various terrible fan attempts at "fixing" the movies, the only thing you're missing is a 4k revision that conforms to your peculiar tastes. I'm not really sure why you're talking about profit incentives here, except that you're upset you aren't being catered to, maybe you failed to realize that I was making a moral argument about why what you're saying is completely devoid of any meaning, or maybe you actually think it's immoral for George to not make a new special edition that conforms to your tastes and you're just not willing to say that.

I also think that Mike's prediction of the Disney shit becoming more popular over time is laughable.

Regardless of how one personally feels about the Prequels, people still talk about them, there's always a new meme involving them, there's people appreciating them, there's people shitting on them, etc. They are as much of a constant in Star Wars discussion as the OG Trilogy. Love them or hate them, it is what it is.

Aside from the internet (which isn't real life, btw), nobody talks about Disney Star Wars. lol. And most people don't watch the Disney Plus shit, so nobody talks about the shows either.

If nobody has watched The Acolyte, then how is it going to be appreciated over time? lol.

Goes to show that RLM didn't really understand the Prequels, movies that Alex Jones figured out easily. Figuring out the Sequels is easy; they're memberberries. They are designed to be derivative of the OT. Filoni-verse is the childish execution of the old EU content and falls for the same pitfalls G.I. Joe does. Thrawn is Cobra Commander, as an example. Acolyte is the incompetent PT and it's getting memory-holed.

Mike's Acolyte glazing really is 90% because it tried to tell an original story in the setting, I genuinely think it is that simple. From the sequels onwards he has constantly shat on the franchise for just doing the same thing again and again. Whether that be repeated plot beats, only ever reusing the same settings, or the way they try to fill in all the gaps (han solo origin, Andor, Obi Wan series etc etc etc). Acolyte seems like a fairly radical change compared to that.

The prequel comparison and projecting 20 years in the future was just dumb though. We get it, you hate all the rabid forms of modern star wars fandom and anti-fandom (which is a little rich considering his relationship to all things star trek, but he's always been a bit of a hypocrite with the two and at the very least I wouldn't consider him rabid), but you don't need to literally invent belaboured scenarios and focus on them for 30 minutes to get some vague points across whilst getting more shots in.

I think it's because they watched this shit while playing on their phones and if you look at it like that, without paying attention to the plot that much, it's fine.
The acting is fine aside from the lead bitch, it looks good, the fights are decent compared to other Sequel stuff.

Also, the thing about Jay... I legit think he's a retard.
I've noticed a pattern of him just not understanding really simple movies, he just doesn't seem to get anything that isn't explained in an exposition dump.
Mike is relatively smart and Rich is not dumb either, Jay is the dummy of the group.
He has technical skills, he can build stuff, he can edit, he can do the job Mike gives him.
However, he's mentally slow.

4K77, 4K80, and 4K83 exist for a reason.

Its a vindictive pile of shit though. And how is it original when its just "Lesbian space witches did force impregnation before Anakin"?

Mike is just a fucking contrarian and he's getting more annoying over time. Wow, all these "Pricks" dont like Kenobi and the Acolyte i must find something good about them.

When a film is professionally scanned in 16-bit color as DPX image files, every single frame weighs in at 100 MB. With upwards of 175,000 frames in each film, a complete scan requires about 21 TB of storage (42 TB if you want a backup copy! And then you need at least another 21 TB of space to work on it)
Sure sounds like a lot of fun when a single frame weighs about as much as 60 seconds of 1920 x 800 @ 24 fps and 13Mbit of a random clip I have on my PC.

Anyway, those versions are probably the best way to watch the original trilogy. Just let the fans make cuts that are as close as possible to the originals, EXCEPT in high resolution. No added scenes or VFX, no changes in color grading, no cropping etc. I saw the Despecialized Edition about a decade ago and that was what I was looking for.

I find the witches to have committed the ultimate act of hubris in the story. Instead of the Living Force causing an immaculate conception, the witches go to a very specific planet with a moon that does what they want. They then create twins because of their weird cult, not because the Living Force willed it to be. They then try to do it again so the twins can gain the power of the Chosen One on the witches' terms. The witches manipulate the natural order of things for power, so it actually is good the Jedi persecuted them and wiped them out.

The plot of The Fagolyte is the epitome of "We are the witches you didn't burn." feminist bullshit. I'd bet 100 Republic Credits that at least one writer posts on r/WitchesVsPatriarchy.

Ohh I never get to break out this meme so appropriately.

Nostalgia. Not nostalgia for better shows and films, but nostalgia for the times when they were kids. The kids who watched The Force Awakens in 2015 are all either adults now or nearing adulthood. And just because people like a movie doesn't mean they think the movie's good. The prequels are bad and that does not take away from the memes at all.

Patreon Update:

Hi Everyone! We've shot our Joe Dante ranking video and are working on editing at least part 1 of that now. The John Carpenter ranking was split into three parts but Joe Dante has less movies (we didn't count anthologies or co-directing stuff) so it will probably only be two parts. In addition to that, we're finally editing a Best of the Worst we shot a while ago and have been sitting on. I think we mentioned it before but it's a good ol' fashioned gimmick episode. Everyone loves a gimmick right? Coming soon!!

That might be interesting. Dante's Burying the Ex is absolutely gutter level that reminded me a lot of Feeding Frenzy in style and performances. It's extra painful because it was one of Anton Yelchin's last roles too. If that's not the bottom 1 or 2 I'll be pretty surprised unless they really hate Small Soldiers which I liked ok, but a lot trashed it back then.

What are your bets? Wheel? Plinketto? Junka? Scavenger Hunt? A new one?

What kids enjoyed The Force Awakens though? The Force Awakens in of itself was nostalgia bait for the grown ups.

That's my point. Kids watched the Prequels. There's no young audience for Star Wars anymore-- Zoomers and Alphas don't acknowledge it.
