Avatar 2 has been out for two years and made well over two billion dollars and I forgot it existed until this video. I also learned about the existence of half a dozen upcoming projects that a decade ago would have been the highlight of my year and now I feel nothing and might half watch them on a flight in ten years maybe. Their contempt for Jack Black in Minecraft is well placed.

> Jay saying "Snow Why" instead of Snow White because she's not white, and why is this movie being made

I was watching the episode in which "SOS" appeared a couple of days ago, and is "SOS" really actually from a Christian Cult, or was this one of those, "let's mock the religious" moments because we're edgy internet atheists?

No, the SOS video was produced by a cult known as The Family International. I think they used other names - The Children of God, I think? I can't remember, but today they're known as The Family International.

They rightfully deserve to be mocked.

One of the most infamous cults of the 70s/80s and for good reason given how it started out as an ex/wannabe hippie group that pimped its female members out to get new converts and quickly devolved into a mass kidfucking operation around the world due to how its founders were the very definition of coombrained degenerates and who liked to spread this mindset directly to the children of their flock by way of an enforced and repeated dicking.

Just to give an idea as to how bad this particular cult was, the founding couple had the bright idea of creating a religious document centred around their son, specifically about how they and their homies were all running an unending fucktrain on him starting when he was 10 months old and continuing for over 700 pages. Each page with detailed photos and annotations describing exactly how he was being fucked in that particular moment, and how this was both awesome and hilarious and why all their followers should be doing the same with their kids. Said son would eventually escape the cult and try to raise awareness on web 1.0 over how fucking horrifying shit was, only to eventually snap and return to their compound with a gun searching for his maternal rapist, and upon failing to find her he took out one of her friends who also raped him before killing himself. I actually remember back in like 06 or 07 watching some documentary as a young teen about this shit after the murder/suicide went down.

Incidentally its the same cult that the Phoenix family were part of as well as a couple other celebrity families for that matter, some of whom are still affiliated as the cult is still active because fuck you personally.

The guy who started that religion was a kike and pedophile. David Berg. This is a common jewish tactic to pretend to be White when they commit crimes. Or pretend that Weinstein and Epstein and the like are WASPs or Anglo Christians. Not that the RLM guys are going to care. It was just them mocking some goofy cult VHS tape that they found.

Oof. Well, at least they kept the mocking of it towards the video and not actually anything towards religion period. As far as I'm concerned, choosing to mock someone's religious beliefs is "safe", boring comedy.

Many such cases, honestly. But yes, an absolutely disgusting "organization". Good SWANS album though, probably their strongest. And, true to sharing a name with the cult, the album is about religion and sex.

Another rather morbid tidbit I found while double checking the deets on the cult is that its coomer shit was so infamous it wound up getting roasted in sermon by another rather well known cult leader, namely Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple mass suicide/"suicide" notoriety

Which incidentally brings me to an interesting point regarding the whole "reddit atheist mocking religion" thing, as cults like Peoples Temple and Children of God and a whole lot others from this era were as turbo fucking leftist as you would expect cults formed by ex hippies and bitter university radicals of the 60s to be, to the point you could straight apply the currentyear woke pejorative on them due to how they shrouded the evil they did with loudly screeched and extremely obnoxious rhetoric about fighting for muh socialism and muh antiracism against muh fascism and muh bigotry and such.

I aint done much reading up on how exactly this relates to the subsequent growth of right wing fundies in burgerland and beyond circa the 1980s, but it would not surprise me if much of their paranoia and hysteria initially stemmed from a backlash against shit like this.

With the two parts of the investigation videos I thought it would be neat if they followed it up with them talking about haunting movies. I always think of Grave Encounters when they bring up Zak Bagans and that made me wonder about their thoughts on other ghost movies.
