You got a good point though. It's a comedy that succeeds at what it does. It even aged well considering Patrick Stewart is the IRL version of Alexander Dane.

A bit off topic for the thread but Galaxy Quest is one of those movies that I point to as a parody with heart. It is never mean-spirited to the things it's lampooning, even the references to actor drama like Shatner's various blowups.

SFDebris had a great review on the film, pointing out it's a "warts and all" look at the film, not forgetting that the "and all" part of that includes the positive stuff.

Mike apologized for the starving African kids joke and admitted his own hypocrisy regarding lore inconsistencies in Star Trek. He even apologized to that one angry Star Wars fan he mocked.
