Problem is, right wingers tend to suck at this, especially now. Take a gander at God's Not Dead, the attempted adaptation of Atlas Shrugged, or the even less budget Christian flicks. They're even worse than Hollywood shits at putting the politics ahead of quality. John Milius, as much of a right wing shitbird as he was, at least knew how to make a rockin good time around his preaching.

when you say right wingers do you mean milquetoast chrstians or far right type people cause far right type people have actively been telling christians to fuck off and stop acting like jews are gods chosen

there are plenty of far far right people that can make amusing shit the problem is they get banned from anything they come near especially *conservative* things if you mention jews in a negative light republicans hunt you faster then leftists

Glass onion fucking sucked, I have no idea what Jay is talking about. Adding things to old scenes is not clever when there is no camera trick and you just key them out. The characters are garbage and it's not forgivable in a detective/mystery fiction like it is in other genres.
Oh geez we JUST had a prolong discussion on Glass Onion yesterday on the moviebob thread. WTF is up with that movie and freakin' film nerds??

Best quote so far:
Glass Onions failure as an actual detective story is simpler than that. Rian Johnson is a first year film student that never experienced or accepted the crushing failure that every first year film student that actually SHOULD succeed in the industry has to go through in order to get over themselves and create something better.

The industry has become so political, nepotistic and narcissistic though that retards like Rian Johnson only ever "succeed" and never "fail" when they are confronted by brain dead hollywood execs who actually hold the money purse. The only people who hold the same opinions are luddites like Bob.

I am pretty sure Jay said it was fine, he just thought it had a few problems like the stupid characters.

Also the Best Of The Worst Wheel Of The Worst is not out yet, and probably will be out by the end of the month. So I apologize for thinking it would be out after the Nukie video.

I think Mike is wrong about the genetics of nepo babies. Most of them are shit, and I think a Wyatt Russell works out because he wasn't pushed as an actor as a kid, he wanted to be a hockey player I think. Actually doing something with your life before acting seems to be the key ingredient to a good actor, or used to.

I just hate the lazy "bend reality around the plot" copout way of storytelling. You could easily have those flashback scenes not be so jarring, but maybe I'm just wrong and slobbering retards don't notice things like that. There's something about murder mysteries that just make the bad things stick out more, idk. I'm just sick of mediocrity being praiseworthy to these fucking neighborcattle.

Glass Onion just proves to me that Ryan Johnson is talented when it comes to directing but his writing skills are sub par, and his comedic talents is dogshit. The best work he has ever done is on Breaking Bad where he had no hand in the script.

Watching the review, it’s not like Jay was super praising the film or anything. Sounded like he was mostly critical of it than anything else.

EDIT: Man, I need to check out The Menu. I too thought it was a cannibal thing.

Yeah I saw The Menu a few months ago, thought it was about cannibalism, but it's genuinely a pretty great movie and very funny.

Ever since Parasite was a huge success basically every movie has tried to copy it, and that's why half the movies they reviewed have the same basic point of "rich people are out of touch and stupid while the common maid/plumber/whore/whatever that's usually a minority and a woman is the real genius" except since the writers are those same stupid rich people their messages are surface deep and they have absolutely no understanding of working class people or people that are outside of their bubble in general. I agree with Mike that The Menu was genuinely decent because it mostly just focused on a funny topical niche and gently ribbing it rather than trying to be bigger than it was, but even it still had the non-rich escort protagonist be the only one to figure out the chef just wanted to make a cheeseburger while the dumb evil rich people/food snobs were too busy huffing their own farts.

I've seen a moment of the film while in my parents' house where some nigress talks about her dead sister who wrote a diary so the biographers of her life will have an easy time, it was so retarded and self congratulatory I immediately decided everything else will be better.

I'd guess it's the usual Hollywood detective film that has some massive reveal that is never shown to the viewers, which makes precious scene make sense and in turn then makes the audience feel smart for literally having the solution given to them and fitting it into the plot. Bonus points if it's incredibly convoluted to the point that in real life the criminal would be caught near immediately.

i didn't really like that a cunt whore was the hero but it was pretty good

I think Sam Kriss kinda mentioned something like this in his Ted Lasso review where every American writes a movie where theyre the plucky working class underdog and the snooty english/rich/rich english people just dont get it maaaan. Like they view themselves as simultaneously always right but also always oppressed when that's typically not how reality works, of course rich assholes tend to be smarter than some maid. The only time writers dont seem to get that is when they have to write about specifically themselves, and then suddenly the rich people are smart again even if the rich person isnt a banker or CEO and is instead an influencer or cocaine-fuelled actor

The movie was pretty clearly lampooning fine dining culture and the rich snobs that are obsessed with it.
yes it uses that satire
that's not actually what it's about, though

but i guess it's cool when a movie can be like shrek where there's stuff for both adults and brainlets to appreciate
