This episode had Mike's fingerprints all over it. If you wanted to define "Mike Stoklasa editing style", this would be a fine showcase. Some of his best recent work.

I do think he's wrong about season 3 retconning the first 2 seasons as a dream. I think if anything season 3 will end up the dream.

Patreon Update:

Hey everyone! We know the final episode of season 2 of Picard is out and we'll get around to covering it just to get the thing over with but we're not in a rush. We've got some other stuff we're working on first and the last video about Picard covered a lot. But we'll get it it soon! In the meantime, we're planning to do a Half in the Bag about Doctor Strange, our first Marvel movie in a year? And we also have a few options we're looking into for a Best of the Worst spotlight episode. All this and less, coming soon!

I can’t blame them for not being in a rush to do the last Picard. That last episode literally killed Mike’s love of TNG.

I thought they would cover Doctor Strange 2 seeing as they did a Darkman Re:View (will watch tonight after watching Darkman for the first time). It seems the consensus is that the film would have been great if it didn't have to be a Marvel film.

That’s been what Ive heard as well.

DS2 is so definitely a Sam Raimi film it's almost a joke. "Is this Evil Dead 4?" kind of thing. And I'm not even a big Raimi fan or obsessive, but even the small amounts I saw were so his style even more than the original Spidey films.

Once upon a time there was a video posted (I forget which thread, I think moviebob) about how the Marvel movies have prerenderings of the major action sequences in a film done before the director is even hired. Since then I've almost made it a game to see if I can spot where a director's touch "ends" and the "premade" stuff begins...

And this film it was immensely obvious.

I've only seen the Spider-Mans but during the scene where the octopus monster is climbing the building I was waiting for a lady to comedically scream. I didn't even remember that Raimi had directed this one until halfway through the film. A shame I don't like comedic stuff he seems like a talented director.

Not a Star Trek fan: can please someone explain why Picard looks like he grew up in the first stage of a Resident Evil game?
Star Trek fans won't be able to explain it either because it appears to have absolutely nothing to do with or have any relation to Picards early life in the canon.

He is supposed to have grown up on a French vineyard, not Spencer Mansion.

So what's the consensus then: is this new Marvel shit actually worth watching or is it all a bait and switch to find out Disney sanded off all the edges that might make it unique?

They really did let Sam Raimi loose. The movie is almost Evil Dead 4.

Though every once in awhile you can spot the "pre-built" action scenes.

Rami is wasted on the film, but when you feel his style, it works. I'd watch only if you like his work a great deal. Some of it is brutal, disturbing for the little ones, but the audience of mostly children seemed fine with it.

And to confirm. Bruce Campbell is in the film.
