I miss the guys doing creative bits like HitB storylines, Science Man, and the Nerd Crew. The most inventive thing they do these days is come up with new gimmicks for choosing videos for BotW. It was right around the time they hit the one million subscriber mark that their creativity fell by the wayside. The conclusion of the gay wedding storyline was their last hoorah.

I guess they lost the hungry creativity of youth. Also, their Patreon income has grown to the point where they can just coast on minimum effort.
It's disappointing nerd crew has fallen by the wayside, it was such a damn good parody. I wonder if they axed it because they were upsetting other creators or something.

However I've enjoyed the Game Show episodes they did (although Josh was his insufferable self in the Lynch one), and hopefully they sprinkle a few more of those in. Another few re:view episodes on specific actors/directors like the Jay and Rich Carpenter episode would be good too.

At the end of the day though I'm pretty happy to just watch the BotW episodes that come out, and the occasional HitB.

I think the reason they stopped was because they actual podcast they were directly mocking (Collider) fell apart and ended.

I do want it back, though. Probably my favorite series of theirs.

I'll never get sick of their movie reviews, though.

I vaguely recall Jay being upset that his nerd crew line was used to make fun of Eric Butts. Specifically this meme

RLM are not MDE. If they stumble on to something too spicy it's really by accident.

I feel like I'm the minority in that Nerd Crew felt like their weakest material.
I think one's enjoyment of the Nerd Crew is dependent on how familiar you are with the thing they're mocking. For myself, I'd never heard of Collider until I found out it and similar shows were what Nerd Crew was satirizing, so the skit was a bit of a head-scratcher for me at first.

I think Jay kinda regrets that his line on consuuummmers spread so far and is being used against some of the things he supports.

But it's a bang on truism

I know exactly what they are mocking. I get it, it just isn't funny because I already viewed those people the way they characterize them.

It just felt super low effort, to me. The funniest thing that came out of Nerd Crew was, ironically, how the fanbase started acting like those types of people specifically for Nerd Crew.

I found the Nerd Crew amusing, but it is far from my favorite thing to come out of RLM. I agree with it being rather low effort, but that's better than the complete lack of effort we're seeing from the guys these days. Hell, Mike and Rich reading Wookieepedia's articles on Vader's suit is maximum effort stuff compared to what they're doing now.

The trivia thing is the most effort they've put into anything in years, and that's mostly in the set. The content itself is low-hanging fruit. Mike knows everything about Star Trek and Jay knows nothing . . . ha ha.

I don't want to come off as hating on the guys. I still enjoy the shit out of their channel. I'm content to see them just sit and talk about movies and TV shows, but I still miss the more energetic and creative times. I even miss the silly walks they used to do, but they probably couldn't do them now without breaking a hip.

WTF is going on with this thread? You guys hate Macaulay Culkin, you hate the Nerd Crew now, what's next? You hate Best of the Worst?

I'm not super familiar with Collider, but I still got that they were mocking shill fanboys.

Collider was practically the shill fanboys that everyone made fun of and everything done in nerd crew was a copy of whatever collider did in their Star wars podcast
Of course like all shills they kinda meld together so other channels like IGN can fall under their parody

Someone brought up politics. It immediately makes everyone act stupid.

I don't know how politics has anything to do with me not liking Nerd Crew or Culkin. I definitely don't see how me not finding the exact same joke being done repeatedly is being stupid.

If you like it, cool. It wasn't like Nerd Crew was offensively bad or anything. But I honestly don't get how people weren't over it by the first skit. It's just laughing at pathetic corporate whores/shills. I even said I am a minority opinion on it.

Seriously, the funniest part is how some of you people act that way now. Now we're honestly acting like Culkin is someone that everyone should like? What's next? Fanboying Max Landis and Josh?

I don't agree, but I do think it ran its course. They did all you can really do with it and stopped; good for them.
I mean, that's basically what they implied offhand in the latest HitB, when they were discussing something going on way too long and running into the ground and how it's better to quit when you're ahead, then they added a clip from the Nerd Crew. I forget what it was because the video's an hour long, but that seems to be how they feel about it. It ran the risk of doing the same jokes so much that it became repetitive and dull instead of funny, so they decided to end it instead.

Hell, with how samey "nerd culture" movies are, you could just swap in the names of the latest MCU or Star Wars project and leave the jokes the same, and it'd still work.

ETA: It was in the Beef House segment, where Mike said that as a long-running series, it would have run out of steam. Cut to Nerd Crew clip.

I guess the reason why we don't get sketches like we use to use because they are THAT burnt out on Hollywood that they feel like there is nothing else to make fun of and they don't have the interest to do so. It's a shame because they were the best at it. Funny how all the "reviewers" and other "nerd culture" types that follow/ripoff RLM don't really do sketches at all and when they do it's "to own the haters"

Go beat off to your flat-chested muscle chicks, dude.

I'm just now discovering RLM, somehow, as in I heard about them like a decade ago but only now am I actually watching through their channel

The Nerd Crew really nailed the whole Lootcrate thing that plagued so much stuff throughout the 2010s, and I wish I had discovered that series when it was new. Like, only they and Ashens ever seemed to blatantly make fun of those stupid subscription crates.

It is sad to me how normal being a sellout money-slut is and being a gross nerdy bugman. I suggest you checkout the Plinkett reviews if you have not already.
