Damn, sounds like two strikes in a row from Ed. I could not for the life of me understand the love that Baby Driver accrued. I really wanted to see LNIS but looks like I'll just download it later.

Baby Driver has a pretty amazing opening car chase.

After that it's... just ok. There's nothing exceptional or memorable about the rest of the film to make it any more distinct from the other "crook goes straight" films.

It's pretty distinct from other movies for being a two hour iPod commercial.
 
I swear to god they blurred out the faces of that first group of people they showed in ghostbusters outfits, recently. Which makes the fact the rest of the pictures that have people in costume who aren't censored a weird one.

I thought Baby Driver was fine, but not one of his best. The World's End is where Ed started to misstep for me. Especially because it was meant to be part of the Cornetto Trilogy, but unlike the other two movies wasn't a parody. It had some decent moments, and I liked swapping Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's roles as the responsible one and the wacky idiot, but they really should have picked a plot and stuck with it.

Don't fucking remind them, They are ruining one of my favorite series ever as we speak..if they Ruin my Favorite Movie Trilogy I will glowpost hard enough that the Jannies could tell where I live at night.

What series is that?

I wouldn't worry too much about BTTF, I believe either Bob Gale or Robert Zemeckis either own the rights or have some kind of veto power over a reboot/continuation and have stated that they would never allow it.

The thing of it I don't even think there's zero potential there, maybe you could do a movie following Doc Brown's kids, Jules and Verne or something like that? It's best left well enough alone of course.

Spot on.

It had it's moments, but it was definitely the weaker of the three and felt it had to be written because they said it would be a trilogy and they had to beat the iron while the fire's hot or some shit, versus did it because they had some great ideas.
 
When I saw it was all 3 guys I backed out and watched a slotslights.com infested stream of the movie in the background. So s p o i l e r s.


The entire movie was a vessel for that end part with ghost Egon. I thought I just wasn't paying attention enough but no, there really is no substance at all. It's literally just "oh no Harold Ramis is dead so no ghostbusters gang back together, let's lean into the ghost part of our title".

Carrie Coon always plays a solid worried mom character but none of the charcters really had depth including hers. The mom was just grumpy about everything. Wah wah daddy abandoned us. One dimensional. It felt so odd that Egon's daughter wasn't like him at all yet his grandaughter was his clone basically? I know skipping a generation is a thing but it was so extreme and stupid. I can't tell you one important thing Finn Wolfhard did except drive the Ecto 1, Paul Rudd felt very miscast and his character only existed so they would have a male counterpart for the mom during the gatekeeper/keymaster stuff.

The little girl did a good job with what she had but her character is just a flanderization of Egon. They even have a scene where her glasses and Egon's are revealed to be identical. Mike's negative opinion of her being a girl genius is spot on. It's just annoying because no kids like this exist and tinker with electricity at 12 devoid of a (usually) male mentor. Also I feel like they crossed that line between "really smart and devoted to science" and "actually autistic". Egon never seemed autistic to me but this little girl gives off major autism vibes with her manor of speaking and socialization with other characters.

I didn't buy the plot either. Egon is convinced of the return of Gozer and absolutely no one believes him and thinks hes a crackpot including his wife? Why? I have such a hard time believing the guys wouldn't at least come investigate. And as we've seen in real life crackpots usually attract other crackpots. People latch on to conspiracy theories. I'm sure Egon wouldn't have been alone in his endevor. The whole fucking town wouldn't be against him that's for sure. Considering this is a universe where ghosts are proven to exist. Everyone just shrugs off that the ghost busters did their thing in the 80s and absolutely no one considers that it could happen again??

Was it as bad as 2016? No. That movie was offensively bad. This one makes me feel indifferent. It wasn't loudly terrible but it wasn't very fun or well done either. The entire movie is boring as shit. Have someone name one good scene besides the Egon ghost or the Ecto 1 chase. They won't be able to.

The guys seemed to have the same opinion. It was completely meh, a rehash of GB1, and only exists to have that heart string tug. They got it right, people don't care about the GB movies, they care about GB nostalgia and the toys and cartoon. Nostalgia bukakke is the perfect term.

Scene where granddaughter finds Egon's old shop and begins working on his abandoned projects with him.

Scene where they connect the old trap up to a bus.

Post credits Scene with Winston and Janeane was solid.

I haven't seen it yet, don't know if I will because CGI graverobbing is something I hate like poison. But my brother's kids loved it, and if they're trying to appeal to a young audience instead of a woke audience, I can get behind that.
 
Can someone help remind me who the Lolcow was that 4chan convinced that Red Letter Media wanted him to join so he drove to Milwaukee?

We can talk in private if you want. The movie is not a rough draft, but it's not perfectly polished either. It's a solid second draft film that is decent because 2016 set the bar so damn low.

Lynch Dune is a flawed gem that is finally getting some recognition it deserved
Denny Villarosa's Dune is Ok, but I wish Hans Zimmer would make a soundtrack that wasn't one note and tinnitus inducing
