I'm guessing Rich's #1 will be Big Trouble in Little China, but that might be because it's my #1 (with The Thing a close 2nd).
 
I assume they are gonna be covering Assault next episode, I can't see Rich placing it much higher than Halloween. In fact I'm surprised he placed it higher in the first place. In fact I'm fairly sure he's gonna be putting Vampires far ahead of it.

Based on his list so far, here's what I assume his list is gonna be like:

1. The Thing (also my favorite horror movie, period)
2. They Live
3. Big Trouble in Little China
4. Escape From New York
5. Halloween

Also, controversial opinion: I actually enjoy Escape From L.A. and I unironically love the ending. I totally see why people hate it though. It's a complete tonal mismatch from the first movie and it looks incredibly dated.

I remember reading Edgar Allen Poe's complete works, and I came to the realization that the works of his that are most well known and famous (The Raven, Pit and the Pendulum, Murders in the Rue Morgue, Telltale Heart, etc.) are the most well known for a reason. They are his best work.

To bring it to movies, in Carpenter's case, The Thing, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China, Escape from New York, and Halloween are his most celebrated films by most people and there is a good reason for that. That isn't to say there is nothing of value in his other works (I really like The Fog) but the famous ones are famous for a reason as they best represent his work.

My Top 5 are the same, but in a different order. They are The Thing, Halloween, Escape from New York, They Live, and Big Trouble in Little China

It's not amazing stuff, but its great campy fun. Poster is beyond terrible tho.

I also enjoy it. It kinda gives me Fallout vibes which it funny seeing as it pre-dates Fallout. I rewatched it recently and was surprised that the movie has a Muslim and a tranny in it, things some people would deride it for today. But the ending combined with the soundtrack elevates it above the original for me.

Cutting out the awkward CGI would probably help public opinion towards it a bit.
 
Hey does anyone else think that maybe Mike has Dyspraxia (aka DCD). Every episode I see some signs that he might, but maybe he's just drunk.

He also seems to have a great long-term memory (eg Star Trek) and yet often forgets the movies he's just seen. Loves to just give up and throw/drop items when they begin to annoy him. I love him for it. We need more positive DCD representation in media.

ETA: his obsession with horror/sci-fi movies having rules (even if they are fantastic ones) also seems DCD-induced.
