It's also important to keep in mind that they are not you and possess different opinions from you.

Roger Ebert thumbs down'd Die Hard. Critics savaged Carpenter's The Thing because they were still moist from E.T. and HOW DARE ANYONE REMAKE HOWARD HAWKS. Critics being not just wrong but atrociously wrong is a long, long tradition.

Rich is much closer to Mike than he is to Jay, but what Rich really is, is the Gen X Normie Barometer. Aliens is better than Alien; Ghostbusters was brilliant lightning in a bottle; Wrath of Khan is Best Trek. These are not really bad takes, but they're also not takes that anyone is going to find scorchingly original or insightful.

Do these same people throw a hissy fit when Spanish speakers use negro?

¡mi negra!

You just reminded me, I asked the same person who did that how they feel about negro being black in Spanish. They said they "will have to look into the historical context of the formation of the word, cannot form a valid opinion without that", implying they might still find that racist :story:

Ebert was notoriously really hard and unfair towards horror films as a whole. He should've just said "Hey, I don't like horror movies" I do think he still had some good insights a lot of the time, but when it comes to horror movies, I always tended to disregard his opinion.

Fun so far, but as someone who puts on BOTW as background all the time, I can't remember the names at all when given an attempt to summarize it for a question. I know Geteven, just not the way Jay asked it.

edit: the second round is perfect, just name anything you can remember from a movie

I love how competitive Mike gets. He tries to downplay it but you can really see he loves to win these kind of games. No funny video comment full of cope this time though.

Gosh they’re all so OOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDD

Edit: Apparently so am I, I have near perfect recall of all the pre-2016 or so episodes and can’t answer a single one after that despite watching every video

I laughed every time Rich called Jay a well dressed leprechaun. I don't often hear Rich tossing insults of this calibre, let alone at Jay.

Please be advised that haus is a gross tranny. His gargoyle face decided to troon out this year.

So when he's talking about lesbians, he means other mentally ill men who troon out but still like women.
Can’t get over that he literally looks like Buffalo Bill. We’re approaching levels of clown world that can’t be good for long term reality.

I skipped their horror movie thing, I’d rather watch James Rolfe phone it in than that. I loved the trivia episode though. It had the best mix of nostalgia, Mike’s sore-loserisms, their collective dementia, and God King Rich’s pity for his most loyal subject.

The best trivia episode yet
Very cozy and a fun topic that ties back into other videos

It's always a good day when the topic is Neil Breen. Rich Evan's response "All of them" to Jay's question of which film is he the savior humanity left me in stiches.

Speaking of trannies. All the Jay tranny pandering will probably backfire on Red Letter Media like it did with Channel Awesome. Doug Walker, after the redemption arc, smartly tries to be mostly apolitical. Mike getting political backfired so badly RLM made multiple damage control videos over Mikes starving African children comment.

Wait, what pandering?

He said the tranny movie was about trannies. That's about it? Pandering would be standing up and waving a rainbow flag while being sure to mention that "trans rights are human rights."

Same, I'd forgotten half of these movies and had no idea what they were talking about, in some cases even after they answered what they were talking about. But, in my defense, I haven't watched some of those old episodes in a long time and have never actually seen the movies. I'd actually forgotten about the VHS episode.

Guess it's time for a rewatch.
