The thing that people don't remember is that PreRec didn't fail, Jack just decided to end it because it wasn't growing as fast as he wanted to.
He wanted like a million subs in 2 years, that never happens.
The best thing we got out of PreRec is obviously Mike invading the streams:

The Pre-Rec streams were only fun when they had guests on. When it was only Rich and Jack the topics were boring and they would always end up attacking the chat for some opinion almost nobody had about how they were playing the games wrong or whatever. Just awful vibes.

I don't know how people feel about him in general, but Edmund McMillen, who created The Binding of Isaac, was pretty cool on there. He had a fun story about a church lock-in, and they talked about Neil Breen. It was the same with Jay coming on to answer questions from the chat read out by Jack while Rich focused on playing the games. Was kind of cozy, and with Jay they basically only talked about movies which as someone who is mostly a non-gamer these days was nice. I remember back when I listened to them at work years ago someone had made a handy playlist of all the streams Jay was in that I just put on for hours.

There is that fun compilation video out there of every time Mike showed up on the stream and made a snide comment about video games or whatever posted earlier, but another legendary stream is Jay playing Outlast giving compliments to the game design, and actually getting scared in the beginning. I'd start with the Jay streams if you want to re-visit their vods.

The Friday the 13th one is another comfort vid for me, but it is shocking how it's Jay that carries the whole thing despite being just a guest that isnt into video games at all. Talked about movies, geeked over how well the game represented the series, and was genuinely into playing it despite kinda sucking at it.

I've thought that for a long time. I know Mike has been Obergruppenfuhrer Stoklasa to a lot of people for a long time, but I was shocked to see Rich being cast in the same light -- maybe because as someone who's genuinely on the right I've never gotten that impression from him. If anything he seems to be the normiest of the bunch, fedoraish tendencies notwithstanding. God only knows what kinds of stuff they've seen on other message boards and reddit to put their guard up.

Rich is the proverbial "Rust Belt blue collar democrat" that Hillary lost in 2016. He was working in construction (installing fire sprinklers ) and lost work in 2008 (giving him the desperation to say 'yes' to Mike's crazy idea), he mostly leans left center but enjoys jokes. In the streams before the election he stated more than once that he didn't see the point in voting for president in the election. (which made Jack more than uncomfortable)

Short vid about the Salt vampire from TOS. Will update when I watch more. They got the mold used to make the mask.

Mike and Jay both look Gray. They also got a reel with original film from the show, and are trying to figure out what it is exactly for a future video. As indicated by the thumbnail and title, they’re using the mold base they bought to try to make a replica for themselves. Some neat shots of Jay and Rich working on it.

I know I'm late to the whole "bitching about Mike and Rich having a dumb take on Star Wars again" train, but I don't think their apathy regarding The Acolyte comes from some gen-x centrist normie bullshit, I just think they're uninformed about Star Wars and don't care. This would be fine if they weren't reviewing a Star Wars show, but why would they even bother talking about Star Wars when they clearly don't give a fat shit about it because it isn't cerebral like Star Trek?

My problem with the video, is that they say people who care about the Star Wars continuity errors should care about starving African children instead. Then their very next video is about spending money on some Star Trek prop. Granted their Nukie money went to a charity, but I find it hypocritical to spend money on some plastic bullshit in one video and preach about inequality in another.

I'd blame it more on the extended universe and future trilogy being bottom of the barrel slop. The originals and prequels were pretty okay with characters not feeling too plot armored.

Sadly post prequels no one writes them as such despite being pretty much THE modern take on knighthood.
Pre the Prequels and most of the EU: I'd always imagined the Jedi to be some kind of Shaolin monk/Justice League that had a temple headquarters somewhere on a planet that looked like an old Chinese mountain painting. Like the Justice League, they didn't get involved in mundane crime, but did the jobs you'd only expect superheroes to do. I imagined their main opponents to be some sort of Evil Sith League of Evil that always had to be kept at bay. It turns out they were just a bunch of space hippies who did diplomatic shit and were beholden to a decadent, hi-tech government. They wouldn't even lift a finger to fight slavery on a planet where it was common, or go back and buy the freedom of a slave who was the mother to a kid they just recruited. You can argue that they didn't have the resources to rescue every slave on the planet or weren't allowed by the rules of their organization to interfere at that location, but such rules just make the Jedi look lame. Tarl Cabot managed to kickstart a slave rebellion and he was just some ordinary dude from Earth with no resources, in a film made by Italians and a bunch of sunburnt extras for $5.75.

The Star Wars prequels sucked, but the few times they did have the Jedi act like actual knights and superheroes, were the best parts of those movies.

I tend not to take that shit seriously. I get it, it's hypocritical of them to shit on people for wanting Star Wars to have a continuity while also being in emotional pain while discussing the inconsistent and lore-ruining nature of Picard, but at the same time I do understand their perspective, even if it's ignorant. From Mike and Rich's angle Star Wars sucked long before the mouse got their hands on it, so they're more interested in seeing Star Wars try to do something "interesting". It's why I think they were somewhat lenient regarding TLJ; for all of Rian's retardations, at least he was trying something new that wasn't the protracted lightsaber fights that Mike and Rich seem to hate so much. But they're so out of touch with what Star Wars is and has done that they see something middling like Andor or mid like The Acolyte and think "huh, this isn't just a bunch of swooshy lightsaber fights, that's new".

I've said before I think that there's a neuron cluster in everyone's brain that activates when a certain topic is brought up which temporarily turns them into a lolcow and with RLM Star Wars is their Cattle Trigger.

Red Cow Entertainment talked about the RLM Acolyte video.

I like their stance of '"Maybe Nerdrotic is an asshole. Who cares? The Disney Corporation doing all of this shit to a multi billion dollar franchise is insane so a youtuber responding to it is small potatoes."

I think they're whole thing about how hate watching is actually good is way off, though. I get that they were trying to make the point that reaction channels were not "helping" Disney by hate watching, but hate watching is still a massive waste of time. especially if you're not making money through it or are getting seriously upset over it.

Look, just move on from Acholyte talk, and watch the newest video. Speaking of which:

That was a much better video. Also Jay not caring about Star Wars is based no wonder why he wasn't going to be a part of the recent Re:View. Also Also Jay mentioning the Dune popcorn bucket...Jay finally watch Dune Part 2 confirmed!!!

Richbros, I don't feel so good...

From the descriptions:
>Hi, today we are talking about Salt Vampire. In these dark times of The Acolyte thirst posts and 4th of July fireworks hurting my ears, we bring to you a kind a simple video. A pointless video really. A video that won't get the views of someone yelling into a microphone about a Star War, but to us it's important.

Mike is absolutely furious over the reaction they got from their Acolyte episode. I predict they'll do another video when the season ends and that he will pull a Jurassic World unironically.
I hate to say I told you so but it must be so obvious for all you know how compromised they've become and how they're willing to be good little goys for a their kike Hollywood overlords.

One causes the other. People who genuinely don't care do not make a hour long rambling video about how lame it is other people care.
